Lithics
Borrowed Floors

Lithics set themselves out to be a ‘minimalist punk band’, which is a great way for punk to be: cut out the extraneous material and leave the taut wiry core. On Borrowed Floors they play very tight indeed, with even the sharp no wave freakouts feeling highly controlled. They’ve got a well-deployed saxophone too. Edition of 300 LPs on Mississippi / Water Wing Records.

Poison Girls
Chappaquiddick Bridge

'Chappaquiddick Bridge' was the first Poison Girls record, a band fronted by Vi Subversa challenging gender roles and promoting anarchy in left-field punk rock. Released by their friends at Crass Records in 1980, it follows on from where EP 'Hex' left off a year before, continuing their attempt at making experimental, politicized punk rock. There are synths. There's some violin. There's even a piano. Now, it's all being re-released on Water Wing Records.

Poison Girls
Hex

Poison Girls were an early UK punk act who played the role of sibling band for legends Crass, playing a great deal of shows with the band in their early days and attempting to make a similarly subversive strand of punk rock. Their EP, 'Hex', originally released in 1979, even found re-release on Crass Records in 1981. Fronted by Vi Subversa, Poison Girls were known for their take on gender roles and scene politics, as well as for helping create the left-field in a conventional punk scene. 'Hex' is being re-released again, this time by Water Wing Records.
