The Necks
Unfold

Noisy improv icons The Necks return with a double vinyl LP on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ label. Unfold sees the band continuing their experiments with absurdist jazz and genre-mangling instrumental forms, with each of the four sides containing a single track of incredible, avant-garde improvisation.

Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar
Raga Yaman (Rudra Veena // Seattle // 15 March 1986)

Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar is the nineteenth generation of a family who have played the dhrupad style of devotional music. For those unfamiliar with dhrupad, it is considered to show raga in its purest form. Recorded at the end of his last US tour performing one of his signature ragas. One of two albums Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ is releasing to celebrate the life and music of Dagar.

Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar
Ragas Abhogi & Vardhani (Rudra Veena // Seattle // 9 March 1986)

Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar is the nineteenth generation of a family who have played the dhrupad style of devotional music. For those unfamiliar with dhrupad, it is considered to show raga in its purest form. This recording was made at a house show, offering a more intimate example of dhrupad. One of two albums Stephen O'Malley's Ideologic Organ is releasing to celebrate the life and music of Dagar.

Ragnar Johnson
Crying Bamboos: Ceremonial Flute Music from New Guinea: Madang

Next on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ label is a reissue of this fine set of recordings from New Guinea, captured in the field by Ragnar Johnson. If Crying Bamboos: Ceremonial Flute Music From New Guinea: Madang sounds oddly familiar, that might just be because parts of it were sampled on Bjork’s recent Utopia album! Clear and beautiful flute recordings to really listen to. Double LP and double CD editions.

When
The Black Death

Reissue LP on Ideologic Organ. Before joining Jester Records and putting out his bizarre Tom Waits flavoured psychedelia on albums like The Lobster Boys When released this….. It’s a single long dark soundscape that has minor fluttering of musicality. It is based around SVARTEDAUEN, a book of drawings by Norwegian artist Theodor Kittelsen that have mainly been used by black metal artists such as Burzum.

Nazoranai
The Most Painful Time Happens Only Once Has It Arrived Already..?

Haino Keiji's post Fushitsusha power trio Nazoranai features a rare pedigree with Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley providing gravity on bass and Oren Ambarchi providing rhythmic propulsion behind the kit. Meanwhile, Haino-san is a law unto himself, unleashing a wall of hallucinatory, otherworldy guitar scree. This document of their live performance at Birmingham in the midst of a 2013 tour was mastered by Rashad Becker in Berlin for optimal clarity and heft and shows how much the trio have developed, harnessing an explosive intensity that rivals anything in Haino's legendary back catalogue.

Daniel Higgs
The Fools Sermon, part 1

Former Lungfish man Daniel Higgs does not mislead when he promises a Fools Sermon: he does indeed deliver his twisted version of a new age religious sermon, carefully intoning each word as though tasting them as they leave his mouth. In the background are creeping desert-like instrumentals: quite the listen! The Fools Sermon, part 1 is out on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ.

Elodie
Vieux Silence

An epic soundscape that allows you to submerge into the mindset of Eldoie (the duo of Andrew Chalk and Timo van Luijk) and experience the imagination that is so cleverly captured by this record. Vieux Silence, on Ideologic Organ, is available on Vinyl LP (+ a download code) that has been mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at Dubplates & Mastering, and also on CD.

Heather Leigh
I Abused Animal

Heather Leigh lands on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ imprint with a powerful solo album. I Abused Animal is made up of just her enormous voice and her alternately ferocious and eerily-tender pedal-steel guitar. Credit is also given to Leigh’s ‘spiritual adviser’, so you know this shall be a deep trip. Recorded in a 'mystery location'. We don't want the Daily Mail finding out about this.

Ragnar Johnson & Jessica Mayer
Sacred Flute Music from New Guinea: Madang / Windim Mabu

The recordings presented here were made in 1976, on a trip made by Jessica Mayer and Ragnar Johnson to document the tradition of Sacred Flute Music from New Guinea. This material sounds utterly entrancing, sounding half like some extended techniques known in western free improvisation, and half like nothing else out there. Double disc reissue on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ label.

Akos Rozmann
12 Stations / Tolv Stationer (1978-2001)

Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ imprint presents this enormous work by Akos Rozmann, on 7 CDs. The contents of those 7 CDs (a single piece, in 6 parts) span the range of electroacoustic music, veering between concrète tape cut-ups and digital processing, pressing voices and other unidentifiable sound sources into remarkable new forms. Composition on an epic scale.

Ai Aso
Lone

Japanese psychedelic pop singer/songwriter, Ai Aso began performing fifteen years ago. She is responsible for all the instrumentation - Guitar, Keyboards and Vocals on her album, Lone with her fragile, acid-folk whispers bringing an hypnotic quality to the music. She has previously collaborated with the likes of White Heaven and Boris among others. Lone is available on vinyl LP.
