Dr. Alimantado
Kings Bread

Dr. Alimantado’s 1979 album King’s Bread, subtitled Jah Love Forever, is a truly wonderful piece of roots reggae dub. The Dr., who was also known as The Ital Surgeon, is a true Rastafari producer and singer, and he mostly sticks to deep-reverbed instrumental tracks on King’s Bread, although there are some bits of his voice rising up from the depths here and there. Reissued on Keyman Records.

Dr. Alimantado
Born For A Purpose

A bona fide late 70s reggae classic from the Greensleeves archives here, reissued 40 years after it initially hit the streets. Although he was not on the same level of fame as some of his peers, Alimantado was championed by The Clash, Johnny Rotten and more besides, and with good reason. The A-side on this reissue was written about how Rastafarianism helped the Doctor’s survival after being hit by a bus – born for a purpose indeed.

Dr. Alimantado
In The Mix Part 3

Real dub hours here with Dr. Alimantado’s simply-titled In The Mix Part 3, in which our hero showcases a seriously special dub sound. With players including Black Steel, Jackie Mittoo and Professor Larry, this album falls straight into a deep groove from the first minute, and it stays there throughout. 1988 album reissued by Keyman.
