Floating Points
Late Night Tales

Late Night Tales is a popular series of albums where one artist will curate an album’s worth of material suitable for late night listening. This time it’s the turn of neuroscientist Sam Shepard AKA electronic whizz Floating Points. He mixes tracks by Sarah Davachi, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, The Residents and more. It also includes his own version of a Kenny Wheeler track and a spoken word piece by wor Lauren Laverne off the radio, like.  LP and CD on Late Night Tales.

Four Tet (Fourtet)
Late Night Tales

Long running mix series Late Night Tales featured none other than Four Tet way back in 2004, and of course he has gone from strength to strength since then… Hence this brand new pressing to (double) vinyl. Mr. Hebden’s eclectic mixture brings in all sorts of sunny experimentalism, making for a damn fine listen.

Agnes Obel
Late Night Tales

The latest night tale comes courtesy of haunting Danish folk-pop composer Agnes Obel. Her selections prove comparable with her own material - generally quiet, reflective and poetic. There’s Lee Hazlewood’s spoken-word narrative on ‘The Nights’, the pioneering Greek artist Lena Platonos’ spectacular examination of androgyny ‘Bloody Shadows from Afar’, a rendition of the much-loved Bulgarian women’s choir piece ‘Pilantze Pee’, Nina Simone and a great deal more.

Khruangbin
The Universe Smiles Upon You

Despite operating out of Texas, Khruangbin are deeply influenced by Thai music, specifically the Thai funk of the 1960’s. If you aren’t familiar with the genre’s sound, prepare to be impressed with the grooving joy it fills you with! The Universe Smiles Upon You, the band’s debut, is on Late Night Tales, pressed to CD or white vinyl.

Nils Frahm
Late Night Tales

Extremely quiet piano practitioner Nils Frahm gets his chance to pick an album’s worth of his favourite after dark music in the latest of the consistent and popular Late Night Tales series. He picks tracks from Bibio, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Penguin Cafe Orchestra plus a whole bunch of interesting stuff. Most interestingly of all, the album opens with Frahm covering John Cage’s infamous 4.33. How much more quiet could he get than that? None more quiet.

BADBADNOTGOOD
Late Night Tales

This time it's the turn of the Canadian quartet to pick their favourite tracks and as with all or most Late Night Tales you get an obligatory Boards of Canada track. There's also stuff by Stereolab, Thundercat, the Beach Boys and luckily for anyone thinking this might be a bit on the safe side a bunch of stuff I personally haven't heard of.

David Holmes
Late Night Tales

David Holmes has assembled an esoteric array of his favourite tracks into an atmospheric mix for Late Night Tales. And, as is usual for Late Night Tales, the mix includes several exclusive tracks by acts like Geese, Spark Sparkle and even Jeff Bridges(!). And both CD and vinyl editions come with a download of the unmixed tracks.

Olafur Arnalds
Late Night Tales

Sensitive neo-classical pianist and composer Olafur Arnalds welcomes the listener into his musical taste with this latest edition of the Late Night Tales series. His mix combines plenty of different styles, and includes exclusive tracks from Arnór Dan, Arnalds himself, and actor David Tennant! Both CD and vinyl versions are mixed, but come with download codes for the unmixed original tracks.

Jon Hopkins
Late Night Tales

The electronic skyscraper Jon Hopkins is permitted a day off from making serious and thoughtful glitch records to make us a mixtape. His Late Night Tales has an excessively pointy front cover and meshes together the likes of ambient act A Winged Victory For The Sullen with Nils Frahm, a Gold Panda edit of a Health song and even a Yeasayer cover of one of Hopkins' own songs. There's lots more swirly, floaty electronic bliss where that came from.

Late Night Tales – Django Django

The popular and intriguing Late Night Tales series gets curated by Django Django here, on CD and double LP. The tracklisting is in keeping with myriad of influencers at play in the band’s sound, from pop to hip-hop, and across the eras. Indeed, it is a bit like the band and their parents got their music mixed-in together one day and they just went with it,
