Jesse Ruins
Fractured Holy Symmetry

'A Film' was a record by shoegazing, pop dreaming, electronica-tinkering band Jesse Ruins, and 'Fractured Holy Symmetry' is a companion piece for all those who loved it, featuring remixes by artists such as Soft Metals, Naliza Moo, Radio Friends and Diane Halls, as well as six new Jesse Ruins tracks. A varied offering of noise and synth pop.

Model Alpha
Dimensions

Model Alpha are a Parisian pair, who have been beavering away at their analogue synthesisers for a while now. Dimensions is the first public release of their dabblings, and the result is a set of tranced-out, space age instrumentals. Released as an LP with a bonus, single-side flexidisc squeezed into the package for good measure, on Desire.

Sergie Rezza
Mist

Sergie Rezza is a collaborative project between Romain Poncet and DJ Deep that lies somewhere in the dark and dreamy territory between techno and noise. ‘Mist’ combines the energy and focus of Romain with the atmospheric experimentation of Deep to forge a new, more cerebral, beat driven path embellished with intricate melodies and sub conscious sounds.

D. Stop
Traitement de choc

Woo, exceedingly rare first release from synth-punkers D. Stop, reissued at last. What’s more, Traitement de choc’s original three tracks are complemented by four other contemporary numbers, which have never seen vinyl release before. Clear vinyl 10” reissue on the Desire label, limited to only 300 copies.

Monoton
Monotonprodukt 02

The Vienna-based Monoton were one of the most influential minimal electronic acts of their time, making clinical and abstract sounds that tried to capture the most important moments in repetition. Formed by Konrad Becker, the project revolved around his own technical innovations; on 'Monotonprodukt 02', the use of drum machines, electronics, sustained violin and even a small amount of sax is all down to him. Originally recorded in 1980, Desire is now reissuing the record along with its followup, 'Monotonprodukt 07'.   Tracks: Ein Wort Dubwise Wirklichkeit Leben Im Dschungel Teil 2 Teil 3.

Ike Yard
Remixed

Ike Yard came into being as No Wave passed on, Industrial was in the air and 'proto techno' had yet to be coined. Propulsive, paranoid, aggressive electro minimalism, with as much attention paid to the mixing board and effects processors as to vocals, guitar and synth. At once starker and more fully-formed than virtually all other contemporaneous post-punk music. desire's 2012 edition represents the first ever vinyl reissue of this classic, prophetic album. This CD only collection is compiling the three different remixes 12’’ that desire released during the last 18 months.

Ricardo Tobar
Hundreds/Garden

Ricardo Tobar makes downbeat and oh-so-minimal techno, known for fucking shit up on James Holden's imprint. His work has a nostalgic, crackedy feel, brought on by his affection for primitive drum machinery and ageing electronic equipment. 'Garden' takes a cut from his debut record and presents it on a shiny 12" courtesy of Desire Inc., with a couple of other nuggets: there's a remix of "Garden" from Daniel Avery, as well as one from Bass Clef. The record also offers up another Tobar cut, "Hundreds".

D.Stop
Nouvelles du Front

French dudes with tall hair and a love of next-generation punk rock (the kind with synths and new wave influence and all that wonder), D.Stop were formed in the early 1980s and released their first record of synth-punk in '83. Here is 'Nouvelles du Front' for all those who want to get their hands on an overlooked document of coldwave.

Underpass
Assimilation

Underpass hail from Olympia, Washington and make politically driven, atmospheric post-punk music. Their debut LP, 'Assimilation', showcases the band's minimalist approach to song craft; deep, echoing bass lines coalesce with prevailing synths and vocal and guitar lines akin to the haunting quality of Robert Smith's. Although brooding and dark, 'Assimilation' is punk at its most introspective: here, Underpass reference subjects close to home like the grievances of displacement, isolation and gentrification.

Babel 17
Celeano Fragments

Babel 17 formed on the periphery of the 80s and 90s, making a sinister coldwave, post-punk and industrial hybrid. Their stay was short but sweet, with two records released in four years. 'Cleano Fragments' was originally released in 1990 and gets a new release from Desire. It's a compelling record of dark synth and dejection for fans of New Order and the Danse Society.

Underpass
Assimilation

Underpass is a post-punk band from Washington who, apart from their founder, Alexander Miranda, remain anonymous due to what record label Desire cites as "border issues". The band stick to the gloomy, despondent traditions of the genre they play in, with guitar that recalls early post-punk champions; Miranda's often horrifically anecdotal lyrics echo the genre's dark fixations. As if that's not enough 'Assimilation' was mixed by Mell Dettmer of Earth and Sunn O))) fame.

D'Marc Cantu
Parisian Summer

The idea behind 'Parisian Summer' came after I played the Weather Fesitval in Paris during the spring of 2013. The atmosphere was amazing and so many new ideas emerged from my experiences there. 'PartyDaze', 'Svetlan' and 'MadDance' were all created ahead of my show at La Machine that weekend. All three of those tracks were made with the purpose of capturing that raw energy that was being given off by some of the best crowds I’ve ever witnessed. In Paris they party with you not to you, so it was important for me to create songs that captured those moments when the crowd was at their most energetic.  'Irregular Bedfellows' was created as a nice counterbalance to the high energy drive of the previous three tracks and 'Uneven' was to bookend of the whole EP. D’Marc Cantu – May 2014 - Limited pressing on clear vinyl.- Incredible varied techno release.- Printed old skool 'Warp' style jacket. 5 new tracks by US producer D’Marc Cantu between house (Jack style), techno and acid. Floorfillers guaranteed.

A G E N D E R
Fixations

A G E N D E R is a feminist punk band from Melbourne that grew out of frontwoman Romy Hoffman's home recordings; it's now a three-piece playing her songs. Their second record, 'Fixations', is a post-punk record about exploring "fetishes and femininity". It recalls Total Control in its half synth, half despondent guitar sound (the bands have shared a producer in Mikey Young), and also Jenny Hval in its themes of feminism and physicality.    Tracks: Mani Pedi Monogamy Brunch Modern Lovers Ascertain Intimate Apparel Don’t Won’t Don’t Org. GDMT Fortune Cookie Wireless

oTo
Purge An Urge

Purge an Urge by oTo was their only album. Originally released in 1986, the duo had expanded to a three-piece band for the album. Purge an Urge followed on from their successful 12” single, Anyway. Initially, the album was supposed to contain 9 tracks, but by the time of release it had been trimmed to a neat 6 tracks. Purge an Urge is available on orange vinyl LP.

Orphan Swords
Risk In A New Age

Although generally known to be lethal combination, there can also be a beauty to Orphan Swords, if you coat them in noise and speak emotionally about tough things in a controlled manner. It is a risk you have to take, and taking Risk in a New Age is something these Belgians love and will never stop doing.

Live Skull
Cloud One

Weirdly, given the band name and the album cover, this is not 70s/80s heavy metal. Instead, Live Skull were a no wave band, and Cloud One captures them at their scrambly noisy best. In fact, this record is often considered the band’s greatest work, so it is a relief that it is finally back in print after so long.

Candidate
Side By Side

Side by Side is the debut album from French duo Candidate and was originally released in 1987. The boy-girl pair from Nancy followed on from the success of Nancy bands such as Kas Produkt, by singing in English yet remaining popular elsewhere in Europe. Side by Side is available on blue vinyl, limited to 300 copies.

oTo
Anyway

oTo were an integral part of the fertile music scene in Nancy, France during the 80s. Anyway was their debut single and has filled dance floors across the globe. The highly regarded single was originally released in 1984 prior to their only album Purge an Urge. Anyway is reissued on 12” vinyl for its 30th anniversary.

Operations (Monoton aka Konrad Becker)
Posession

A thumping, groovy beast from electronic arts pioneer Monoton. For Operations he teams up with Viennese vocalist Sela to present a unique project fusing modern technology with ancient communication techniques. Taken from the vaudevillian live show it’s a dark trip into the Twilight Zone. Out on 10” vinyl from Desire.

Jesse Ruins
A Film

Romantic and wide-eyed electronica gets breathed in and out in A Film, the debut record from trio Jesse Ruins who have expanded from their origins, incorporating stunning shoegaze inclinations. There are even drums. The sound of a quietened IDM record getting thrown into the wide open.
