Rough Trade Shops Presents: Counter Culture 2017

Different world working for Rough Trade than for your common or garden provincial music emporium. Where they get to go out to Primavera and pick their favourite tracks of the year for a double LP release, we spend our time trying to get the intercom to work and wondering why we don't have a working CD player in the office. But that's just the way the cookie crumbles....good luck to them. Personally I prefer freezing my balls off in a concrete prison than being a jet setting tastemaker. Keeps it real.

Behind The Counter With Max Richter

Who wants to sneak inside Max Richter’s world? I’m pretty sure Phil does and he’ll enjoy this compilation of some of Max’s favourite works both recent and distant.  As you can imagine there’s a heavy classical, neo classical tinge to this but it also includes work by Boards of Canada and Let’s Eat Grandma.

The Rough Trade Shops label has an excellent track record of releasing high quality compilation albums. This time the focus of their attention is the legendary Heavenly label and their 25th anniversary. Disc one of this collection compiles the best stuff from their current artists such as Temples, Jimi Goodwin, Toy and Mark Lanegan. Disc two gathers together the 7” singles that were released for Record Store Day 2015. It features a special collaborative effort by Toy & Jane Weaver, and tracks by Pete Wiggs of St. Etienne and Caitlin Rose.
