Quad
Quad (A.K.A. “No.1”)

Quad was the solo project of Gary Ramon, guitarist who played in Modern Art, Mystery Plane and Sun Dial. Quad was his solo venture during a break from Sun Dial, recorded between 1990 and 1997 with this self titled coming at the end. Long format improvised experimentations into mixing psychedelic krautrock with electronics. Switch on that black light, and disappear.

Coil
Astral Disaster (Prescription Edition)

Originally released on Gary Ramon of Sun Dial’s short run label Prescription, and later on Coil’s own Threshold House, what we have here are the original masters from the former. Reproduced with the same artwork also, so a real treat for people who can’t afford the price tag of one of the sub 100 copies that were made available.

Laurence Vanay
Les Soleile De La Vie

Following her album Evening Colours  in ‘76, Jacqueline Thibault a.k.a Laurence Vanay recorded further tracks on her multi-track Revox recorder. Les Soleile De La Vie was the result. Features a host of her friends including Serge Derrien, Popov, Michel Santangelli, Jean Claude Guzelli and Francis Moze. Having sat on a shelf for years it finally gets a full release. Limited reissue LP on Lion Productions. Edition of 500 copies in deluxe tip-on sleeve.  Features a six-panel colour insert with rare photos and text.

Wapassou
Wapassou

The good news: Wapassou’s legendary self-titled debut is finally given its much-deserved reissue. Renowned for their experimental attitude, these Frenchmen were pivotal in the continental European prog-rock scene. When you hear this, it’s easy to understand why. The raging organs and guitar solos are practically a visual trip. The bad news: there’s only 500 copies of this beauty to go around!

Laurence Vanay
La Petite Fenetre

The first ever release of the late 1970’s recordings, La Petite Fenetre by Laurence Vanay is a powerful collection of songs from an unsung French artist. As an arranger at Château d’Hérouville studios, Vanay spent far too much time on other people’s sounds to release her own music. Finally these beautiful instrumentals get the airing they deserve. Limited reissue LP on Lion Productions. Edition of 500 copies in deluxe tip-on sleeve with six-panel colour insert, featuring rare photos and text.

Eduardo Mateo & Jorge Trasante
Mateo Y Trasante

This record was originally written and recorded during a dark period for the duo’s home country of Uruguay as it was under the oppressive dictatorship of the early seventies. ‘Mateo Y Trasante’ documents Eduardo Mateo and Jorge Trasante’s voyage into the deep heart of sonic percussion and guitar techniques. The record is pensive, thoughtful and has a warm melancolia that radiates through Mateo’s soulful vocal.

Montevideo Blues
Montevideo Blues

The self-titled album by Montevideo Blues, their only release, is rare and exciting, so praise the gods for this LP reissue on Lion Productions. Uruguay’s finest example of 70’s political rock-via-traditional-instruments music, and something quite unlike what’s available elsewhere. Limited to only 500 copies, just so you know!

Jarvis Street Revue
Mr. Oil Man

Jarvis Street Revue hailed from distant Ontario, Canada back in the early 70’s, and the view from there is a strange one, cold and firm and psychedelic. The band’s only album, Mr. Oil Man, is an anti-establishment howl of frustration, reissued at last as a limited LP (only 500 copies) on Lion Productions.

Visitors
Visitors

Jean-Pierre Massiera used the Visitors alias to present his seminars in the mixology of all those out-of-fashion, gloriously strange genres, from psych rock to zeuhl back to the standard-bearer of prog rock. There's a lot of jazz to this self-titled work, though it's also got the bombastic, vocally intensified streak of Vangelis. Recommended for fans of unbelievably ridiculous rock orchestration and out of place keyboards.

Truth and Janey
Erupts

Truth and Janey demonstrate the power they bring from up on most high with 'Erupts', a record of live recordings that force you to realise they're more than a fantasy. These performances were collected from 1976 and offer a life lesson or ten in hard rock banality. Recommended for fans of the heavy shit -- and maybe Blue Oyster Cult on a bad day.

McKay
Into You

‘Tis the season for re-releases here at Norman Records. Into You comes to you from 1978, with swell guitar licks, dreamy riffs and, despite the fact its been aging for over 30 years, a really fresh feel. Although McKay never intended to go big - they only sold the 300 pressings locally and gave them to friends - this record was picked up eventually, and not without reason. It’s tight. Or rad. Far out. You know.

Santa Y Su Gente
Urgente

Another overdue rerelease to please the fans. First released during the rule of Pinochet, this sweet piece of progressive/Latin funk never got the attention it deserved. Now you can listen to Santa Y Su Gente in the warmth of your own home, whilst basking in the peace of your own democratically elected government.

Green
Green

Finally one of the quintessential '80s pop/rock albums has been reissued! Underappreciated since its release, this self-titled album is sure to surprise you for being so well-conserved. Still fresh as a spring-time leaf, Green’s debut has not aged a bit. Treat yourself to a tasty music history lesson! Only 500 copies available!

Probe 10
There Is a Universe

A pie of fun and bewilderment from Probe 10. There Is a Universe is a trip down into the archives of proggy nonsense, harking back to times most definitely past. It's a mixture of jazz-rock-fusion, funked out horns and inter-planetary synths. It sounds like The Crusaders and Yes doing the score for a sci-fi action thriller - whatever that is. Out on vinyl LP from Lion Productions.

The Search Party
Montgomery Chapel

Well, I never thought I'd see the day when I would be writing about some bonged-out Christian space rock. The Search Party channel the spirit of the American 60's rock scene, with their darkly sullen organs, haunting vocals and mysterious guitar twangery made all the stranger by their genuine religious message. Montgomery Chapel has got to be heard to be believed. Out on vinyl LP from Lion Productions.

Nihilist Spasm Band
No Record

A re-issue of an improv group from London. London, Ontario that is. A classic of noise/wierdo/freak-out music made in 1968 but sounding completely timeless in the same way that 'Trout Mask Replica' sounds timeless. Relatively unheard of at the time but has recently featured in Spin magazine's list of 100 top counter-culture albums.

Il Balletto Di Bronzo
Sirio 2222

Limited to 1000 re-press of this incredibly rare album which was fetching up to 5000 dollars on Ebay and such like. Comes with nice four panel poster sized inlay delving into the history of these titans of hard-rock. This raw-edged heavy rock, fronted by Lino Ajello's powerful electric guitars, channelled the dark, jagged energy of Jimmy Page, Adrian Gurvitz (the classic in the attic guy'?), and Jeff Beck. Their influences were primarily Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds but their overwhelming power and killer melodies make them irresistible. There are seven-minute mammoth heavy grind grooves, ten minute long droning acid rock pieces and mellow ballads with acoustic interludes.  Nurse With Wound of all people cites these lot as an influence.

Guy Skornik
Pour Pauwels

A reissue of 1970s French prog/psyche/pop from Guy Skornik, a rather unusual sounding French geezer who was deeply into Eastern mysticism and LSD. The music on Pour Pauwels is equally acid drenched but without delving into the unbearable, as prog so often can. Skornik instead creates an album of lights and shade which traverses between crackin’ Kevin Ayers style guitar riffs and gentle psychedelic pop ballads in the style of Gainsbourg or Jean-Pierre Massiera. A limited edition of 500 copies on 180g.

Iron Claw
Iron Claw

Iron Claw are Scottish pioneers of Heavy Metal from Dumfries who play a pulverizing heavy psyche from the heart of doom metal. Their self titled compilation ‘Iron Claw’ is a masterpiece that documents the ridiculously heavy early days of doom. This is the first ever vinyl release of songs originally recorded in 1970/1971 taken from the original tapes.

Laurence Vanay
Evening Colours

Jacqueline Thibault released a modest company of albums in the 1970s, taking on the moniker Laurence Vanay. The wife of prog-monsters Magma's Laurent Thibault, her musics differed in tone and aesthetic, offering a quietened world evoked through beautified instrumentals with soft keys and guitars -- but plenty of Zeuhl influence to keep up appearances. Evening Colours is her second record.

Snakegrinder
Snakegrinder And The Shredded Fieldmice

Originally recorded and released in very limited numbers in 1977 for their local fans, 'Snakegrinder and the Shredded Fieldmice' was the only album made by Delaware proggies Snakegrinder before they split up and vanished into obscurity. But, weep ye not, for the album has been resurrected, and now you too can own this widdly-widdly, concepty, pure '70s sounding masterpiece. No mice were harmed during the pressing of this vinyl.
