LuckyMe Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
Jacques Greene with his first official release since 2017’s Feel Infinite LP here. Focus is one half of the Fever Focus EP, a record that can be purchased as a whole or in separate parts. The three tracks of Focus find Greene once more exploring the club as a space for dreaming and escapism through a mixture of sounds drawn from post-dubstep, deep house and r&b.
So here’s how this one works. Jacques Greene’s new EP Fever Focus is actually split across two records. You can buy them separately or together. What we have here is just the Fever half. The LuckyMe veteran claims that these tracks see him leaving the club behind, and there are indeed several moments of cerebral post-rave ambiences here. However, ‘Avatar Beach’ doesn’t stray too far from the deep post-dubstep sound on which Greene has built his empire.
Color The Weather and colour us interested, because we’ve finally got an LP from Suicideyear. Though Baton Rouge’s number 1 Sadboy dropped the Japan odds-and-sods full-length back in 2015, this LuckyMe drop is the first time that Suicideyear has set out to create an album's-worth of tracks in one sitting. The vision is realised well here, with his classic Gothic trap style balanced out by excursions into digital noise and mournful ambient interludes. Think How To Dress Well meets Ziur.
CID RIM is the new project from Clemens Bacher, an important figure in the Austrian world of electronic music. Debut LP, Material, sees him mixing way out modern jazz and electronic sounds to create a cerebral work that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Bacher has previously remixed acts such as The 1975, Chvrches and Sky Ferreira to great critical acclaim, making his own er… Material, greatly anticipated.
Montreal based producer Lunice has readied his long awaited debut full length album. After working with Hudson Mohawke as TNGHT, being featured on Kanye West’s Yeezus he returns to his roots at the Glasgow based LuckyMe label. 11 tracks of his dynamic and individual take on hip-hop/trap beats with featured guests SOPHIE and Le1f.

Sam Obey A.K.A. Obey City reinvents himself as Sam O.B. and brings his debut full length album to the LuckyMe label. His twist of R’n’B soul and bassy club orientated hip-hop takes another step further into a glossy 80s synth land. Retaining the furious trap style snare and hat flurries alongside anthemic 80s pop glory. Onra meets Rustie meets Bleachers.
Far more than a promising young producer at this point, Suicideyear's EPs for 0pn's label and elsewhere have proved his sparkling, refracting hip hop instrumentals to be a world unto themselves. Creating skeletal-sounding but beaming tunes from 808s and synth, plus an often hazy production value, he now offers up "Hate Songs' on Glasgow's LuckyMe.
Even with incredibly well received releases on UNO, 3024, and Night Slugs, Jacques Greene is very much a mainstay at LuckyMe and after many EPs with the label he is rightfully releasing his debut full length with the scottish label. After working with acts such as Shlohmo, Tinashe, and How To Dress Well this is a hotly tipped release with several tracks already lorded after.
Sevendeaths is a producer who pushes organic, ‘human’ sounds through vigourous digital processes, transforming guitars and suchlike into heavyweight noisy drone suites. Remote Sympathy sounds as large as the hills and as sweeping as a Scottish storm. It’s released by the LuckyMe label on CD and as a double vinyl LP.

Canadian producer Jacques Greene has been away for a couple of years, but has returned to his home label LuckyMe with a new single and refreshes his already fresh output into the electronic dance world. A visceral blend of techno, bass-come-garage, and neo soul. Both tracks are extended versions for vinyl only.
The duo NAKED are new and young and vigorous, with a sound that drowns pop songs in wave upon wave of digital distortion and shreds of unidentified sound. They have a healthy disregard for the differences between melodic and noisy material. Debut album ZONE is a fiercely beautiful prospect, dwelling on modern isolation in particular. Out on LuckyMe.
Eclair Fifi Presents Mickey Oliver
Never Let Go
As part of a new series on LuckyMe, Eclair Fifi is getting some favourite tunes of hers re-pressed and re-released. Never Let Me Go is a strong 1987 track from Mickey Oliver, featuring the vocals of Shanna Jae. Sexy Chicago house fully deserving of a higher profile, with modern remixes rounding out the 12”.
Inkke has been bubbling up through the fertile Glaswegian club scene fostered by institutions like Numbers and LuckyMe for a few years now: this EP release puts his sound within the reach of non-Scots. Secret Palace is a shiny, dramatic set of productions, set to knock new visions into the minds of clubbers everywhere. Out on LuckyMe.
Parc en Ciel is a project of Mathieu Thomas of 7VWWVW (MAMMAL), in which he chooses to use a very blatantly synthesised sound pallette. Path Integral sounds odd at first, until you learn to accept the choice of textures Thomas is using, which give the record the feel of a strange old library record. LP on LuckyMe.
‘Aa’ is the long awaited debut album from 26 year old Portuguese New Yorker and contemporary urban dance music warrior Baauer, aka Harry Rodrigues. With the special guests list featuring the likes of Future, Pusha T, M.I.A, Novelist, Leikeli47, Rustie and Tirzah, ‘Aa’ is a bold sonic document of Baauer’s NY rap and dance culture influences played with unbreakable confidence and raw energy.
Straight from the stables of LuckyMe’s finest, Edinburgers NAKED are releasing their debut. Supposedly, Youth Mode deals with the problems we all face on a daily basis: anonymity in crowds and the limits of online interaction, all set to dreamy melodies from guitar and vox. Meanwhile, expect cold and stark beats in contrast. Think the XX and FKA Twigs.
Almost every track on ‘My Skeleton’ features field recordings made on far away buses, trains, airports, cities, parks, temples, forests and jungles, floors, hotels, hostels, friends’ sofas. Written on a netbook with various borrowed headphones and recorded and mixed in the cold European winter at Sunwheel II in Berlin and Hudson Mohawke’s studio in London.
Please raise one's hands for S-Type. Rosario EP is the Glaswegians new six track endeavour. Full of 808 beats, hand claps, ecstatic synthesisers and deep and low down grooves. It is also chocka with collaborations from a host of MCs to wax lyrical over his productions. It's good time party hip-hop to get things started anywhere. Out on 12" vinyl from LuckyMe.
