Witching Waves
Fear Of Falling Down

London based Witching Waves are a post-punk/indie pop duo that trade in music influenced by the likes of Sonic Youth, Beat Happening and Tiger Trap. ‘Fear Of Falling Down’ is the band’s debut LP and is evocative of their DIY roots: recorded on to 8 track tape, their sound here is lo-fi but detailed, echoing 60s pop and garage with an obvious nod to the DIY underground.

Wolf Girl
Moody

Pop-punk indie fun straight out of the garage, that’s what Londoners Wolf Girl have lined up for you to enjoy. The Moody single, backed with ‘Get You’, is bristling with energetic guitars and bouncy vocal harmonies, equalling a good time for all. Limited edition of 250 vinyl 7”s courtesy of the Odd Box label.

The Darling Buds
Evergreen EP

The Darling Buds have been around, on-and-off, for long enough that their last release was a Peel Session. Twenty-five years and a number of gigs later, they’ve recorded this short-but-sweet four-track EP, which simply bursts with indie pop joy. Evergreen is a 10” EP released on the Odd Box label, limited to an edition of 500 copies.

Year Of Birds
White Death To Power Alan

Year Of The Birds are a no-fucks-given Teeside post-punk band with a busy recent history behind them. White Death To Power Alan is their most properly-recorded slab so far, but it still comes without any airs or graces. These guys are much too direct for that. Vinyl release on Odd Box, released in an edition of 250.

The Wolfhounds
Untied Kingdom (…or how to come to terms with your culture)

Debuting in 1986, disbanding in 1990 and now back with their first full length standalone LP 26 years later, The Wolfhounds are as furious and energetic as they ever were. There is a dystopian reflectiveness to their disjointed and modern-twisted punk, with sample manipulation, dub freak outs and detuned jangly and raw rock and roll chords.

City Yelps
The City Yelps Half Hour

City Yelps are a Leeds band of scrappy young guitary things, following up a single and a tape with a full-length debut. The City Yelps Half Hour has had the privilege of being produced by Mick Flower of Vibracathedral Orchestra, so its garage-rock-punk songs sound spot on. LP out on Odd Box in an edition of 250.

The Manhattan Love Suicides
Bikini Party / Birthday Kill

Bikini Party/Birthday Kill is the new 7” EP from The Manhattan Love Suicides. It follows on from last year’s More Heat! More Panic! album. The 4-track EP marks a new direction for the band - less fuzz, more jarring guitars and irate vocals. Perfect for black clad disaffected among us. Limited to 300 copies.

The Ethical Debating Society
New Sense

The Ethical Debating Society are less into debating and more into shouting their perspective into the world: a good thing really, as it makes for more exciting listening. They are a trio, operating DIY and lo-fi style in their resurrection of riot grrrl sounds, and New Sense is their latest missive. LP on Odd Box.

The Wolfhounds
Middle Aged Freaks

Middle Aged Freaks is the first LP in 24 years from indie/C86 veterans The Wolfhounds. Initially forming in 1985, the band reformed in 2005, and other than an EP in 2012, which collected tracks that pre-dated their first single, they've been relatively quiet since their reformation, though releasing a scattering of recordings and working on new material behind the scenes. The results of which feature here, on Middle Aged Freaks, which brings together all of their recordings since they reunited. 'Bout time!

Tyrannosaurus Dead
Flying Ant Day

For fans of fuzzed out indie rock from yesteryear with modern principles and a youthful exuberance, there's Tyrannosaurus Dead, who get by with sickly-sweet vocal exchanges (that recall a gentler Dan Bejar) and scuzzy chords that make you feel a lot of love. The succinct and always catchy enough 'Flying Ant Day' takes you back to the days of 'Slanted & Enchanted' carelessness, and also harkens to the newer work of Joanna Gruesome. A nice postcard from indie rock.

The Wolfhounds
Anthem / Middle-Aged Freak

Indie rockers The Wolfhounds formed in Romford in 1985. The band split, or went on hiatus, in 1990 after releasing four albums. Anthem/Middle Aged Freaks is the third single they have released since their reformation in 2005, following on from Cheer Up and Divide and Fall, which both received great critical acclaim.

Pinkshinyultrablast
Happy Songs For Happy Zombies

Pinkshinysupermassiveblastoise enter the wonderful world of reissues with a 10", RSD-prepped celebration of 'Happy Songs For Happy Zombies'. The Russian shoegaze outfit treat their host genre more ecstatically than A Sunny Day In Glasgow and Cocteau Twins put together, injecting some well-needed (or at least not unwelcome) thrash techniques into their sweet, dreamy music. This one dates back to 2009. Olde school.
