Thigh Master
Now For Example

Here's one for fans of the fervent Flying Nun scene of the mid 80s from Brisbane quartet Thigh Master. Now For Example is the follow up to their 2016 debut Early Times and sees the band continue their tight, taut and incredibly catchy guitar pop drawing comparisons with the likes of the Clean, the Chills and the 3Ds. Lop-sided lo-fi fun  - just how we like it.

Aquarian Blood
A Love That Leads To War

Aquarian Blood are led by husband and wife duo J.B. Horrell (Ex-Cult) and Laurel Horrell (NOTS). Following their chaotic punk debut as a six-piece band, Last Night In Paradise, the band have been paired back to a four-piece and bring a new sound for new album, A Love That Leads To War. Here, the band make sounds that mix ‘60s psych, the Shimmy Disc label and Damon and Naomi.

Ty Segall
Melted

Known to release a new album each mealtime, Ty Segall is now filling in the gaps between meals by re-issuing his old ones. Melted was his third album from way back in those heady days we knew as 2010 and was made in collaboration with Sic Alps Mike Donovan. It's a blast of short and sharp garage rock with trademark lo-fi amp buzz and songs with a glam rock catchiness and a psych rock sensibility. Lots of rock fun as always and still fresh as a daisy.

Ty Segall
Ty Rex

Ty Rex is the name under which garage-rock wunderkind Ty Segall covers the material of Marc Bolan’s T-Rex, as you do. This record compiles an EP and a 7”, both long out of print, and adds an exclusive new version of ‘20th Century Boy’. The project is clearly borne of love, and sounds pretty wild. Out on Goner Records.

Bad Times
Streets Of Iron

Bad Times were one of Jay Reatard’s early groups, and their only record stands as a self-titled debut LP that dropped in 2001. A 2002 reissue combined that album with the band’s only live show - an opening slot for Guitar Wolf - but this repress from Goner restores two tracks from the original release that made way for the live versions second time around. It’s typical ear-splitting fare from one of punk’s great forces of nature.

Cobra Man
New Driveway Soundtrack

Cobra Man is a project dedicated to open-heartedly embracing all the most 80’s tropes of the 80’s. Their debut album New Driveway Soundtrack is inspired by skate culture and skateboarding videos, and is packed with chunky funky italo-disco DIY-punk synth-pop fun times. Gnarly. Out on Goner Records.

Benni
I & II

Benni is the latest guise of Ben McCullough of Wizzard Sleeve/Heavy Lids/Natural Child. This solo outing is focused firmly on imagines sci-fi soundtracks and with 80’s electro pulse. With cited influences being Vangelis, John Carpenter and arcade games I & II is an epic journey from cinematic soundscapes to high energy chase music.

Golden Pelicans
Disciples Of Blood

Golden Pelicans make hard rock that is just as hard and gnarly at the edges as they used to make it in the scuzziest 80’s fleapits. Disciples Of Blood is the third record of punkish long-haired party music the band have put together, and it's properly strong stuff. Released by Goner Records on both CD and LP.

Aquarian Blood
Last Nite In Paradise

Aquarian Blood are a band built around the husband and wife duo of Laurel Ferdon and JB Horrell, both of whom have played in a bunch of bands. When the other members of the group are added in, I imagine the whole of the Memphis weird-punk underground is represented in one way or another. Last Nite In Paradise is the debut full-length of this blasted outfit: quality madness music played at high speed. On Goner Records.

Angry Angles
Angry Angles

Here is the complete recorded work of Angry Angles: 17 songs squeezed onto a single CD / record. Angry Angles was Alix Brown and Jay Reatard, who were a couple at the time of recording. Their fast-blast noise-pop is played with a free-and-frenzied sense of abandon, but the songs themselves are also good and catchy! 5 of these tracks are getting their first release here. On Goner Records.

Shadow In The Cracks
Shadow In The Cracks

Shadow in the Cracks are a new band created by Jim and Mike Blaha. The brothers made up two thirds of Minneapolis punk band The Blind Shake. After writing some new material they decided to start a new band as what they were doing felt different. They stripped the drum kit down to bass drum and indian bells which changed their approach. The resulting sound is huge sheets of noise blended with catchy melodies.

Ty Segall
Lemons

Because the fruit equivalent of garage punk is in fact lemons -- citrus is full of lo-fi potential, don't you know -- Ty Segall once called a thing Lemons, and this is that thing. This smattering of psych melds '60s melodies with atmospherics of a dystopian decade that has yet to come.
