Dub Spencer & Trance Hill
Christmas In Dub

I hope you have your Christmas stockings ready, because here are Dub Spencer & Trance Hill to fill them full of dub 'just in time' for the festive season. Christmas In Dub does what it says on the label: 11 tracks of season's dub to keep you warm as the nights close in and the frost descends. These guys may be Swiss but they sure know their way around rolling funk, reverb, roots and of course dub-wise electronics. We look forward to opening up the box and releasing the Jingle Bells Dub and the Twelve Days of Christmas Dub, how about you? LP or CD on Echo Beach.

Police In Dub

Who books these in? We may have mocked at the Police's cod reggae leanings back in their heyday but just to prove the peroxide threesome were real life dreadlock heroes here is a collection of dub interpretations of some of their best known songs. Reggae heavyweights Rankin' Roger, Benjamin Zephaniah and Big Youth all feature on surely one of the more improbable records in recent memory.

Sly & Robbie meet Dubmatix

The ‘Riddim Twins’ Sly & Robbie see their style collide with the oddball dub stylings of Dubmatix here. The Canadian producer takes tracks laid down by the pair and peppers them with a cornucopia of different sounds, styles and effects. The result is an LP built on tough grooves, yet blessed with a light touch.

Little Axe
London Blues

Little Axe, AKA Skip MacDonald was schooled in blues, jazz and gospel. He was once a session player in the Sugarhill Records house band. He then went on to work with Adrian Sherwood and experiment with industrial and dub sounds in Tackhead. On his eighth album London Blues, he is ably assisted by Mark Stewart of The Pop Group, Doug Wimbish of Living Colour, Perry Melius from African Head Charge and roots artist Jeb Loy Nichols. The music is the blues but it is eclectically flavoured by McDonald's career to date.

Lee 'Scratch' Perry
Super Ape Returns To Conquer

Lee “Scratch” Perry is an acknowledged legend and originator, and Super Ape, the 1976 album he recorded at his Black Ark, is one of the most groundbreaking records in his vast discography. Now he makes the surprising move of returning to re-make the album with the help of regular collaborators Subatomic Sound System. Intriguing reinventions. On Echo Beach.

Dub Spencer & Trance Hill
Deep Dive Dub

Dub isn’t a genre known for it’s progressive or experimental leanings, but then again Switzerland isn’t really known for it’s contribution to dub. Put together elements of dub, trance like electronics and an edge of theatrics and you get Dub Spencer & Trance Hill. They made a William Burroughs dub album for god’s sake.

Dub Realistic

Dubblestandart are a long-running dub crew from Austria. They’ve deeply learned the lessons of the Jamaican originators though to be fair, with every sound swimming around in a cosy echo haze. It does feel a little odd to hear toasting in German though… Dub Realistic is out on Echo Beach.

In Dub

We try to measure with one ruler, but Dubbelstandart makes it hard. Normally we love all sick dub equally, but In Dub is just, well, double as good as usual. Warped electronics and a bass that will make your brains wobble are normally enough, but Dubbelstandart don’t take half measures - and they definitely dub it twice.
