The Beneficiaries (Jeff Mills / Eddie Fowlkes / Jessica Care Moore)
The Crystal City Is Alive

The Beneficiaries is a collaboration between Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills, legendary Detroit DJ and producer Eddie Fowlkes and poet Jessica Care Moore who originally comes from Detroit. Jeff Mills wanted to collaborate with other artists as he thought it simply hadn’t been done enough. Despite both being around the Detroit scene for years, Mills and Fowlkes have never worked together. He discovered Moore when he saw her performing poetry online and was floored by her energy. The Crystal City is Alive is the result of their toil.

The latest instalment in an EP series spanning the entirety of Jeff Mills’ nearly thirty-year solo career outside of Detroit techno icons Underground Resistance, The Director’s Cut Chapter 5 gathers three choice cuts from 1999 (‘L8’) to 2015 (‘Solar Cycles’) on a 12” single.

The Director's Cut Chapter 3

Jeff Mills returns to his archives for another bite at his Director’s Cut cherry. Chapter 3 sees the techno overlord once again giving reissue status to a seemingly random selection of his deep cuts. A couple of newbies are thrown in for good measure, and there’s also a portion of The Director’s Cut Chapter 3 where Mills starts chatting about how his 2012 tune ‘Flying Machines’ came to be.

Jeff Mills
The Director's Cut Chapter 2

The deal with these new Director’s Cut editions is that they give Jeff Mills a chance to shine new light on some of his older tomes. Chapter 2 includes tunes from the minimal techno legend that date back from as far as the 90’s (‘If (We)’, ‘Cycle 30 (Loop 4)’) as well as more recent stuff in the form of ‘As Soon As’ and ‘G-Star’. The real treat is the commentary Mills puts forward about ‘If (We)’ at the back end of The Director’s Cut Chapter 2’s A-side.

And Then There Was Light

Techno legend Jeff Mills is still churning out tracks at the rate of an industrial 4x4 Detroit beat, only sometimes taking a break to work on soundtracks. His latest project is the soundtrack for Tatsushi Ohmori’s love-affair thriller Let There Be Light, originally released as Hikari. We're expecting some cinematographic beats.

Jeff Mills
Lost In Space

This Lost In Space 12” is part of a collaboration between techno veteran Jeff Mills and the classical Orchestre National Du Capitole de Toulouse. The full version of the piece will arrive next year in album form and in live performance, but for now this five track EP, produced to audiophile standards, gives us listeners an exciting insight into the work. On Axis.
