The 4th Wave
Attention Please

Short-lived techno act The 4th Wave may not have lasted for very long, but their legacy of two EPs - 1995’s Touched for Carl Craig’s label Planet E and the following year’s Attention Please for Kirk Degiorgio’s Op-Art imprint - are fondly remembered. Applied Rhythmic Technology has obtained producer Steve Paton’s approval for the re-issue of the second of these releases, mastered from the original tapes and given a bonus fourth track, ‘Lounge Music’.

London Modular Alliance
Wireless

London Modular Alliance is a silly name, but at least it’s factually watertight. The group formed around the London synth emporium London Modular, and all of their tracks are born from hardware jams. It’ll come as no surprise that the cuts on Wireless are dense, slightly sinister numbers that sound very expensive. Will appeal to people who’ve been enjoying anything that CPU have done of late.

Ross 154
Fragments

From the mists of 1993 and Eevo-Lute, it's Ross 154 (Jochem Peteri / Newworldaquarium) with Fragments. 4 slices of deep, opaque, mysterious techno and soft ambient interludes. Recorded at Stefan Robbers' parents' house in Eindhoven, the guys channeled their formative influences: hip hop, Brit Soul and Duran Duran melancholy; while absorbing UK scene techno -- Kirk Degiorgio, B12 -- plus second-wave Detroit (Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin). A classic, then.
