Nicola Ratti

Milan-based composer and sound-artist Nicola Ratti has previously released on the labels Where To Now? and Room40. Anyone partial to the output of those imprints - the former a wonk-techno mainstay, the latter sound-art aficionados - will be mightily pleased by Ratti’s new LP Continental. Conceived as ‘a series of big rooms or places to get lost in’, Ratti’s spacious brand of concrete is strangely charming in a sort of Oval-type way.

Sarah Davachi
All My Circles Run

The vast soundworld of Sarah Davachi expands a little further with All My Circles Run, her second LP of the year after the stunning modular portraits of Dominions. While that record continued to investigate Davachi's juxtaposition of straight-up tone drone and rippling, Radigue inspired movement, All My Circles Run sees her depart from modular synthesis for a record of instrumental experiments, with separate excursions taking place on strings, organ, piano and vocals. She's one of the best drone artists out there, both in practice and presentation, so dig on this, please.

Secret Pyramid
The Silent March

Canadian ambient fuzz face secret Pyramid has a re-issue of his hallowed small run tape from a couple of years ago here. Comparisons have been bandied around with Popol Vuh and Flying Dog Saucer Attack seemingly the main culprits of influence here. I don't know how much of this is true as I've not heard it but I think if you like yr vast cosmic noise and light/dark soundscapes done really well this could be hitting the bottom of your deep cart soon. James Plotkin always gets the most sonically out of his remastering skills so seeing his name here is definitely an incentive to give this a gander.
