Hush Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
Loch Lomond are, despite what you may be led to believe by the band’s name, from Portland, Oregon. Night Bats/White Dresses sees two of the band’s EPs being released on vinyl for the first time. Night Bats was originally released in 2010 and White Dresses followed two years later. Support slots with fellow Portland bands The Decemberists and Blitzen Trapper should give a few clues as to their sound. LP on Hush Records.
Docile is a sweet and simple collection of solo piano pieces, charmingly minimal and melodic. Peter Broderick apparently recorded the whole set in one evening, and the immediacy and clarity of the moment has carried through into the recordings. First released in 2008, Docile is now reissued by Hush Records.
Dustin Hamman (who can normally be found lending his distinctive vocals and songcraft to Portland, Oregon outfit Run On Sentence) presents his eclectic and engaging soundtrack for Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly’s indie rite-of-passage flick Beneath The Harvest Sky. Styles range from bedroom acoustics to furious cowpunk and homemade funk rock. Not a million miles away from Beck’s similarly titled 1994 lo-fi debut EP A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight and therefore highly recommended to slackers and losers (or perhaps 'drivers' and 'winners') everywhere.
