The Hussy
Looming

The Hussy a decade old trash-punk band straight outta Madison Wisconsin who have put a slew of their chaotic garage rock out on a variety of labels. Looming is their first album since founding members Bobby Hussy and Heather Hussy were joined by a third wheel the impressively hyphenated Ty-ler Fassnacht. Its of a darker hue than their earlier high octane scuzz with ruminations on divorce, loss addiction and of course these politically turbulent times.

Bad Sports
Constant Stimulation

Texans Bad Sports bring a fresh approach to proto punk and power pop with their fourth album, Constant Stimulation. The trio, fronted by the wonderfully named Orville Neeley, sound frustrated with the state of the world in 2018, as the album title suggests, there’s just too much going on! LP and CD on Dirtnap.

Mind Spider
Furies

Mark Ryan’s shapeshifting punk project Mind Spiders (which I hope is an imperative to heed and consider spiders) returns sounding more electronic than ever on concept album Furies, owing to having replaced several band members with drum machines and synths. As a result, the album sounds unusually clean and mild for a punk music production, but in simply having to keep up with all the the unfeeling, relentless machinery, Mark & pals show their energy.

Fox Face
Spoil + Destroy

Fox Face are Milwaukee’s best feminist punk outfit, applying lots of riot grrrl ferocity along with a bit of old-school heavy riff’n’chug, and even some brighter surfy sections. Spoil + Destroy is their debut album, and it definitely does the job if you are after powerful guitar music with a strong anti-bullshit filter. On Dirtnap.
