Mesh-Key Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
When someone talks about 'Sound Art', I imagine that this is probably exactly what they are hearing in their head. Phew is a Japanese voice artist who is constantly able to layer her voice alongside different sounds to make you feel the strangest of emotions and sensations. From tingles down your spine, to a feeling of impending doom. Voice Hardcore is released on Mesh-Key on vinyl LP and CD through Bereket, featuring alternative artwork.
Tokyo singer / producer Phew has fronted the punk band Aunt Sally and collaborated with Boredoms, Einsturzende Neubauten and half of Can over the years, so she’s evidently got the chops. On Light Sleep she has created some incredible songs for electronics and voice: some drift languidly while others erupt. LP release on Mesh-Key, limited to 500 copies.

Solo album the third from Shintaro Sakamoto, out of Yura Yura Teikoku. Love If Possible is a varied set of highly individual pop-soul, full of steel guitar, spacey quasi-ambience, shuffling rhythms and Sakamoto’s highly individual frontman vocals. Released by Mesh-Key along with an insert that features all the lyrics translated from Japanese to English.
