Nadia Sirota
Tessellatum

Tessellatum is the title of the new album by Nadia Sirota, who performs violin on the film soundtrack, composed by Donnacha Dennehy. All fifteen string parts were played by Nadia, with Liam Byrne on viola. Recording took place at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland. The film and music play with the idea of man versus nature. Intriguingly, timbres and textures alternate between manmade systems and nature's own resonances, working in harmony. LP / CD on Bedroom Community.

Puzzle Muteson
Theatrics

Puzzle Muteson is an English songwriter who likes to pluck, pick and strum -- and leave it at that. His latest record, 'Theatrics', was made with the help of an all-star cat, including Nico Muhly and producing hero Valgeir Sigurðsson. 'Theatrics' is the follow-up to Puzzle Muteson's debut record, 'En Garde', and continues to follow his trend of simple narratives told in a soft, vulnerable voice.

Nadia Sirota & Nico Muhly
Keep In Touch

Modern classical wunderkind Nico Muhly has written a full-blown viola concerto, recorded here by violist Nadia Sirota with the backing of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Apparently Keep In Touch was designed to challenge the performer into engaging with their weaknesses (mean Mr Muhly), but Sirota’s performance of the piece sounds perfect to these ears. Valgeir SigurĂ°sson
Dissonance

Working as a producer for acts such as Bjork, Ben Frost, Nico Muhly, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and CocoRosie, Icelandic composer Valgeir Sigurðsson releases his fourth  solo full length on Bedroom Community. Falling in and out of its namesake, Dissonance hold grand pieces reflect great joy and sadness, melding neo classical and electronics to cinematic effect.

Ben Frost
The Wasp Factory

Iain Banks’ novel The Wasp Factory is a fairly brutal work to begin with, so just imagine what an operatic adaptation directed by famously intense sound artist Ben Frost might be like? This record contains Frost’s original soundtrack, where vocalists and a string ensemble are added to his usual palette of electronics. The Wasp Factory is released by Bedroom Community.

Crash Ensemble
Ghosts

Crash Ensemble are a combination of some Ireland’s most promising and already acclaimed neo-classical instrumentalists. Ghosts is a four piece CD including music written by Iceland’s Valgeir Sigurðsson. This record is played with energy and commitment, and has a seriously good pairing with the sense of adventure.
