Pinch
The Boxer / Swish (Kromestar Remixes)

Some old Pinch jams have the ruler run over them by dubstep OG Kromestar . ‘The Boxer’ and ‘Swish’ were already pretty weighty tomes when they surfaced at the beginning of the 2010s, but these re-rubs really go for the jugular. ‘The Boxer (Kromestar’s Southpaw Remix)’ pummels you into submission with huge square-wave bass hits, while the ‘Swish’ flip is a triple-time jam reminiscent of the title track from Silkie’s recent Impervious EP for Deep Medi. This one’s a Tectonic drop.

Various / Pinch & Mumdance
Pinch B2B Mumdance

Two heavyweights of the scene step up to the decks together for this collaborative mix CD on Tectonic (the label of which Pinch is the boss). The track selection offers a great opportunity to hear a number of forthcoming Tectonic tracks for the first time, not to mention two fresh new collaborations between Pinch and Mumdance, never before heard.

Pinch & Mumdance
Big Slug Ft. Riko Dan / Lucid Dreaming

Are you big on slugs? They’re dirty, they’re filthy, they’re grimey. And in all those senses, Big Slug is aptly named. Pinch & Mumdance collaborate with Riko Dan, crazy MC who spits nauseating lines over a minimalist glitchy beat. On the b-side Lucid Dreaming, expect unadulterated paranoid rave.

Pinch & Mumdance
Control / Strobe Light

The power duo of production that is Pinch and Mumdance is back with a new pair of heavy-hitters. Operating at 140 and 128 beats per minute respectively, Control and Strobe Light are at once utilitarian dancefloor action pieces and layered with enticing details for close listening. 12” on the Tectonic label.

Distance
Dynamis

DJ Distance has been busy soaking up influences in the last eight years whilst putting out a steady stream of EPs out on Chestplate and Tectonic. His last full length Repercussions was dark and night-time heavy dubstep, with Dynamis there is a shift into brighter (still heavy) and more dynamic territory, with noted influences of A$AP Ferg and Arca.

Mumdance & Logos
Proto

Looking back to look forward with Mumdance & Logos. Proto is the new 10 track full length from this power house collaboration. This one is an examination and total mutation of techno, house and jungle beats, rhythms and ideas from back in the day. They slow it down, pick it up, twist and trip it all the hell out. It's dark, hard and mesmerising. Out on double vinyl LP from Tectonic.

Wen
Finesse EP

Finesse EP by Wen is an effortless melting pot of early dub step, grime and techno forcing previously familiar genres into unchartered territory. Over the three tracks you will hear finely crafted sci-fi sounds, tribal beats that further melds dub step and techno and a closing track that clocks in at a frantic 160 bpm and recalls the likes of Photek.

Mumdance & Logos
Move Your Body / Hall Of Mirrors – Perc & Truss Remixes

Two killer production duos collide on this double A-side 12”, creating a piece of wax that is truly dense with talent. Two tracks from Mumdance & Logos’ collaborative album Proto get remixed by the duo of Perc & Truss, who crank up the techno power to the max. Move Your Body / Hall Of Mirrors - Perc & Truss Remixes is out on Tectonic.

Tectonic Plates Volume 1

The Tectonic Plates series really live up to their ground-shaking namesake, even a decade down the line from their initial release into the fiery heat of peak UK dubstep. Originally split over an array of 10”s, this reissue puts all 8 tracks (from Skream, Digital Mystikz, Loefah and the like) onto 2 12”s. Plus! A bonus 2006 mix cd from Pinch.

PHON.O
Afterglow

PHON.O is the production moniker for Berlin-based Carsten Aermes, and Afterglow shows off the impressive way he’s been able to meld together the dominant Techno sound of his city with the wild percussive assault of footwork and the 2-step heft of dubstep. 3 detailed and involving tracks to lose your body and mind to. 12” on Tectonic.

Nurve
Cabana EP

4 new ones from Nurve, who produces classic 90’s-esque techno from behind a shadowy curtain of anonymity. The Cabana EP goes pretty deep, with vocal samples looming up from the groovy murk of bass and drums. Also features a collaboration with Caski. 12” on Tectonic, more than matching his well-regarded last release for the label.

Pinch
Screamer ft. Riko Dan / No Justice

Proper low-down darkside heaviness from ace producer Pinch here, enlisting the master grime voice of Riko Dan for this new 12”. These two tracks truly feel like they come at the listener from the depths of a dark dark night, with the industrial garage productions rumbling deep. And just look at that cover. Out on Tectonic.

Acre
Better Strangers

With previous EPs released on Tectonic, Cold Recordings and PAN’s sub-label Codes, Better Strangers is Acre’s album debut. From previous works showcasing rave flashbacks and heavily distorted jungle breaks akin to Andy Stott productions. From his own words Acre has injected more emotion into this release than previous outings, meaning this could be a pleasantly tough record to digest. Available on double LP or CD.
  • Vinyl Double LP (TEC089)

Ipman
Depatterning

After raising anticipation with a series of 12” releases on various labels, Ipman is now ready to deploy his first full-length. Depatterning lands on Tectonic with a thud, pulling in modular and granular synthesis systems along with advanced drum programming. The results are glorious, with each track providing a wealth of details on top of the rhythms. CD or double LP.

Pinch, Mumdance, Logos
Double Barrelled Mitzi (Turbo Mitzi VIP) / Legion (VIPinch Mix)

Dream team business here, with this 12" featuring Pinch, Mumdance and Logos. Last year's very popular Turbo Mitzi is back, this time as a VIP Double Barrelled Mitzi mix from the original pair of Pinch & Mumdance. On the B-side, Pinch reworks Mumdance & Logos' Legion. A really energetic 12" on Tectonic.

Ipman
Regicide / Ghostrunner

Ipman tears right in with the mutilated amen breakbeats and MC samples with the first track of this double, Regicide / Ghostrunner. The second track is equally compelling, both pieces churning together a low and dirty bass throb with bouncing lively rhythms that really can’t be resisted. Ipman’s first release on the Tectonics label.

Acre
Icons EP

Another 4 offbeat movers from Mancunian Acre. Icons EP is a pretty hectic record through out, with Acre having a go at all sorts. It starts with some pretty bombastic percussion with syncopated bleeps and bloops and gets darker from there on in. He's taken his favorite bits of dance music and put his own twist on them. Out on 12" vinyl from Tectonic.

Ishan Sound
Namkha

A heavy chunk of dubstep from Ishan Sound. As part of Bristol’s Young Echo Crew and fifty percent of Zhou the exotically titled Namkha is all about earth-shattering sub-bass and wobbly wobbly dub all wrapped up in a sleek, minimalist dubstep blueprint. Out on 12” vinyl from Tectonic.

Pinch & Mumdance
Turbo Mitzi / Whiplash

Sometimes you’re dancing in some forlorn warehouse and you look around you, and you’re struck with a sudden realization: everybody looks like they’re having a seizure or a panic attack. With this piece of 12” vinyl, you are able to understand why: Pinch & Mumdance’s two new tracks are powerful pieces of 128bpm paranoia.

Guido
Moods of Future Joy

Bristol's vast ocean of dubstep music throws another wave our way with Gudio, who's on his second record at this point. Moods of Future Joy follows-up the intricate Anieda, a full-bodied and difficult-to-categorise record that brought out the "post-dubstep" fangs. This one continues to show Gudio's interest in mixing together minimal scenes with big monolithic moments informed by an education in jazz.
