Tummy Touch Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
John Cameron (the man who scored seminal kitsch Biker-zombie 70's flick Psychomania) is responsible for this album of afro-rock derived library music. Sounds exciting to us as this talented studio svengali could turn his hand (and band) to any style seemingly. This LP is one of three curious KPM re-issues to arrive soon on the Tummy Touch imprint.
Funk-jazz fellows Keith Mansfield and Alan Hawkshaw usually have big grins on their faces in stock photos, and they're usually sitting by a piano. They sure know how to pack the big beat, as they show off on their compositions for 'The Big Beat Vol 1', which features lots of organs, lots of trumpets, and lots of riffage.
Big in Japan, Little Barrie investigate new sonic pastures on their new one on Tummy Touch. They are back with the same lineup as ever, once again mentored by their producer Edwyn Collins. Song-writer ‘Little’ Barrie Cadogan brings a “relaxed urgency” to the bands sound, apparently imbued from working with Damo Suzuki and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.
