Dutch party renegade I-F (Inter-Ference) reissues his 2010 EP Space Inavaders’ Revenge. Both the ‘XL Remix’ and the instrumental of ‘Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass’ remain typically punkish electro jams from the Unit Moebius-affiliated producer. This new edition sees the two original cuts backed by new IG collaboration ‘Pong’s Run’, a whirligig blitz of chiptune beats and retro-futurist club textures.
This is a new project from the duo of I-f and John Scheffer AKA The Parallax Corporation. Known for their Pitchfork-approved electro-pop it really isn't the best idea for them to call themselves the Conservatives. I mean, there's just nothing good about the Conservatives never mind cool. They might want to have a re-think on that one.
The latest drop by impressive Dutch imprint Viewlexx (Nina Kraviz, The Conservatives) is a grainy-as-hell techno selection from The Wheel Of Rituals. These six tracks deliver on the portentous EP title. With the recording quality suggesting the files may have been ripped directly from a car stereo, tracks like ‘Instrument Of Power’ and ‘The Circle Of Trust’ still manage to pack an industrial-strength punch through the fuzz.

Dutch electro druid I-f has been a cult concern for a long time, hence his original wares on Viewlexx fetch hefty price tags on the second hand market. The label have done the right thing and dusted down essential 1997 12” The Brown Elbow Conspiracy, giving the sharks something to cry about and all lovers of dirty Italo-flavoured disco-acid deviance a reason to rejoice.
Think back to the heady days of 1995, when you might have heard these heavyweight Dutch electro tracks hammering out of the systems at you. Now I-f’s classic Portrait Of A Dead Girl 1: The Cause has been remastered and reissued, so can now return to your stereos in full effect! 12” on Viewlexx.
Test Pilot Volume 2 is a Viewlexx EP, piling together four different artists onto one 12”. On this one we have Panama Brown, Tandy Ogmo, Roberto Auser and Gesloten Cirkel. Incidentally, the first volume of Test Pilot was released almost twenty years ago in 1996: if you’ve been waiting to complete the set, rejoice now.
I-f’s Test Pilot Volume 1 was first released back in 1996, but if you missed out then, don’t worry, a remastered reissue has been pressed up. This EP follows the in-my-view-excellent format of three tracks tooled for the dancefloor and one piece of strange, disquieting oddness. 12” on Viewlexx.
This vinyl 12” repress of I-f’s perfectly titled Space Invaders are Smoking Grass is an essential reminder of how forward-thinking this ‘90s artist was. The vocoder and proto-electroclash of the title cut are unforgettable, but the rest of this release from Viewlexx is equally great. Catchy melodies are shouted over raw drum machine experiments.
