Barbara Howard
I Don't Want Your Love

Barbara Howard’s 1969 single ‘I Don’t Want Your Love’/‘The Man Above’ is one of those rare soul 7”s that is highly prized within the community (which means that original copies cost an absolute bomb these days). It’s easy to see why - even a half-century later the funky A-side and sensuous B-side still pack a real punch. Remined Records are the ones behind this reissue - check their new edition of Howard’s On The Rise LP as well.

Barbara Howard
On The Rise

All's well that end's well huh. In 1968 one Steven Reece set up an independent label in the hope of attracting the attention of the majors. His choice of musician was Barbara Howard and the album On The Rise aimed to cast the net as wide as possible by featuring jazz, gospel and pop. The album flopped but the pair fell in love. Whatever else, On The Rise is worth it for its story. Reissued on Colemine Records.
