Life & Death On A New York Dance Floor (1980 - 1983) Part 1

Here we have the first of two records that will be released as backup to Tim Lawrence’s excellent book Life & Death On A New York Dancefloor, 1980-1983. The Love Saves The Day author and Arthur Russell biographer is surely the perfect curator for a compilation such as this one. Russell appears here in Dinosaur L form. We also get some big-hitters of the era (David Byrne, Alan Vega) rubbing shoulders with more obscure acts like Tuxedomoon.

Life & Death On A New York Dance Floor (1980 - 1983) Part 2

The second accompanying compilation to Tim Lawrence’s Life & Death On A New York Dance Floor 1980 - 1983 drops on Lawrence’s new label Reappearing Records. It’s another collection of tunes that capture the spirit of early-80s NYC, a time when the city’s hip-hop, club and punk scenes were all beginning to mix freely. Contains cuts by Loose Joints, George Kranz and Peech Boys.
