Juniore
Un Deux Trois

French ‘60s influenced indie-pop three-piece Juniore have been described as a cross between Cat Power and Françoise Hardy. Un Deux Trois is the band’s second album. It follows their highly regarded 2017 debut, Ouh là là. The band are led by Anna Jean whose dad just happens to be Nobel Prize winning author, J. M. G. Le Clézio.

The Shining Levels
The Gallows Pole

Naming its debut album after Benjamin Myers’ 2017 Walter Scott Prize-winning novel The Gallows Pole, The Shining Levels is a Northumbria/Durham-based collective of folk and electronica musicians dedicated to presenting traditional sounds from Britain and abroad in a thoroughly modern perspective.

Juniore
En Solitaire

Parisian group Juniore have supported The Dandy Warhols on tour, something that will likely act as a bellwether as to if you’re going to dig their music or not. Personally this Norman Records™ typewriter-monkey can’t get enough of Courtney Taylor-Taylor and the gang, so I’m all for Juniore and their valium-dosed take on ye-ye. Stereolab and St. Etienne are the obvious touchstones for ‘En Solitaire’.

Grand Veymont
Grand Veymont

Nothing quite like a mountain. There's very little else that can match their capacity to fill you with wonder and terror at the exact same time. To take your name from a mountain is a clear statement of intent. French duo Grand Veymont make music that gives you vertigo and makes your heart race. It's surreal pop, it's abstract rock, it's "krautrock de salon". On Outré.

Juniore
Magnifique

Man, the French really love the ‘60s don’t they? Juniore’s Magnifique is another one of those Gallic LPs that leans heavily on the likes of The Rolling Stones, Francoise Hardy, The Grateful Dead et al. Tracks like the eponymous cut have a light psychedelic bent to them too. It’s all very Melody’s Echo Chamber.
