Sontag Shogun
It Billows Up

It Billows Up (it really does, you know) is the third LP from Brooklyn experimentalists Sontag Shogun. The trio's style brings together elements of free jazz, post-rock, drone, ambient and contemporary classical composition to create delicate and intricate soundscapes. On It Billows Up they come through with some of their most nuanced and tender compositions yet - it’s a record in the company artists like Dead Light and Snow Palms. Out via Youngbloods (Suplington, Annabel (lee)).

Suplington
After Life

Suplington returns to Youngbloods (Boy King Islands, Sontag Shogun) with new LP After Life. As with its predecessor Repeating Flowers, this album is another gorgeous set of instrumental vignettes that blur the boundaries between ambient music, contemporary classical composition and drone. The record’s calm flow recalls Luke Abbott. After Life features flautist Nadiya Darling and two members of the excellent Archie Pelago.

lojii
lofeye

Youngbloods Records (Sontag Shogun, Sweatson Klank) team up with Philly MC lojii for the rapper’s debut solo LP. lofeye is a murky, hazy alt-rap record that really catches a vibe. Atop beats pitched somewhere between the sparse spookiness of recent Metro Boomin and the Garageband-Pharrell flex of early OFWGKTA, lojii eloquently shadowboxes in a manner reminiscent of Earl Sweatshirt.

Sontag Shogun
Patterns For Resonant Space

Based in Brooklyn, Sontag Shogun are an avant-garde sort of drone/ambience group that provide a rather relaxing and comforting background to your, well, life. Patterns For Resonant Space is their latest release and contains ten tracks that have been oddly named a seemingly random number. Available on limited Vinyl LP and on Youngbloods.
