Peter Mcconnell
Grim Fandango

iam8bit deliver another envinyled computer game soundtrack for the twentieth anniversary of lauded noir adventure Grim Fandango. A bit of a flop in 1998, the game has since accumulated the reputation it deserves, certainly due in no small part to the spirited lounge jazz of Peter McConnell’s soundtrack. Director’s Cut version recorded with real orchestra.

Chris Remo
Gone Home

Fifth anniversary vinyl edition of Chris Remo’s stunning soundtrack for 2013 video game Gone Home. Memorable even in the context of the demands of an immersive first-person exploration game, Remo’s score evoked mystery with its grandiose peaks and heart-stopping ambient sections, yet kept the player grounded in the game itself.

Grant Kirkhope
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Grant Kirkhope - the video-game composer responsible for the music of Goldeneye and Banjo-Kazooie - served up a predictably zany soundtrack for Ubisoft’s 2014 game Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The fully-orchestrated score draws strongly from Kirkhope’s previous work as well as Camille Saint-Saens’s beloved Carnival Of The Animals. It appears here as another lavish release from iam8bit - gatefold sleeve, actual fuzzy moustache (!) and paper character cutouts all come as standard.

Jeff Russo
What Remains of Edith Finch

Tonic guitarist and composer of various soundtracks, such as Star Trek: Discovery and Altered Carbon, Jeff Russo also received praise for his work on last year’s acclaimed mystery computer game What Remains of Edith Finch. The game’s music, a peaceful and sober work of soft piano and mournful strings, now gets the marbled vinyl treatment from iam8bit.

Todd Baker
Monument Valley II

Iam8bit have been pushing the envelope for gaming and game soundtracks for a while now. Here they collaborate with ustwo games to get the music from the very successful Monument Valley II to vinyl. The score is as vibrant and charming as the game itself - Todd Baker, who has also made music for the Littlebigplanet series, comes up with more than two-dozen nuggets of indietronica-flavoured goodness. Comes in a lovely vinyl package too.

Henry Jackman
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

iam8bit are back with another video game soundtrack. This time it comes courtesy of Kong: Skull Island/Captain Phillips/Kick Ass composer Henry Jackman. His score for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a typically swashbuckling take, lavishly orchestrated and full of melody. Jackman’s mastery of stürm und drang means the music really holds up when unshackled from the game.
