Back in 1994 John Bergin (Trust Obey) hooked up James O’Barr. For those who don’t know, O’Barr is author of acclaimed comic book series The Crow, and his collaboration with Bergin spawned a musical companion piece to the book entitled Fear & Bullets. This 25th anniversary edition of Fear & Bullets features tracks from both the 1994 and 1998 versions of the LP as well as some previously-unreleased demos. O’Barr completists will be tempted by the poster that depicts O’Barr’s first-ever drawing of Crow. Musically it’s very of-the-time - Nine Inch Nails were clearly a huge influence on Bergin back then.
This goofy 1999 LP gets the reissue treatment. Unreleased 70s Porno Music doesn’t actually consist of never-before-heard porn soundtracks. Rather, it’s a collection of original recordings in the style of the sleazy lounge, funk and library styles that soundtracked a thousand Watergate-era orgasms. And of course, who else would be doing the voiceovers but Ron Jeremy.
We know you’ve been sad lately, and we know why. It’s because Bikini Bottom’s most famous, friendly, absorbent, yellow and porous resident has never once enjoyed the vinyl treatment. It’s time something was done. That’s what Enjoy the Ride were thinking, and they’ve done the honourable thing of bringing the best tunes of the hit queasy nautical cartoon to wax. Are ya ready, kids?
Crank gives a good indication on what to expect from this soundtrack to the Jason Statham action movie. High Voltage an even better indication. Crank: High Voltage is a heavy, thudding mix of electro and metal from Mike Patton, lead singer of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle.
First vinyl reissue with exclusive artwork by John Bergin.
