Karen Less
Love Is On The Way

I'm distracted when reading about Karen Less when I see a bit on the press release that tells be that Trassic Tusk are opening a brewery and record shop in East Fife. I want to go. Karen Less couldn't be further from East Fife. She's a hip-hop artist out of Oakland and this is a brilliant little single. Quirky and smooth with that West Coast vibe in spades. Will go nice with some organic beers.

Morgan Lebus
Under The Moon

Morgan Lebus was an  LA-based musician. He recorded the songs on Under The Moon in 2002. Whilst he still remains active in the music business, he just doesn’t make music anymore, so these songs are the last he ever recorded. One of his mates just happens to be James Yorkston. Yorkston played the songs to the people at Triassic Tusk who were excited enough to release them on this here 7” single.

Jo Foster
I'll Be Thinking Of You All The Time

The lady on the right looks like my grandma I know nothing more about this record. The press release just says 'lovely single this'. I've just nipped onto Bandcamp to have a listen and yup...that's pretty accurate. It's a piano and vocal jaunt. Jo Foster has a nice wee sweet voice and the song is very Christmassy. The B side Your Young Voice was written by Kenny Anderson (King Creosote). Limited 7" on Triassic Tusk.

Buoy Gull
Grace Darling

Bouy Gull is a collaboration between bouy, King Creosote and gull, Mairearad Green. This 7” is the first of three the duo will release and features Grace, Darling and Gull Bouy. Mairearad Green is an accomplished folk musician known for her accordion and pipe playing as well as her work with fellow folkie Anna Massey. King Creosote is pretty well known for being King Creosote. 7” limited to 300 copies on Triassic Tusk.

Screamers, Bangers & Cosmic Synths Volume 2

Triassic Tusk Records (King Creosote, Andrew Weatherall) return with the second volume of their Screamers, Bangers & Cosmic Synths series. Does what it says on the tin, this one. This is a collection of heavy rare cuts to whip up many a dancefloor frenzy. They're funky, groovy, sometimes a little bit squiffy, and generally just really good fun.

Malcolm Middleton
Bananas

‘Yes, we have no bananas’ as the old song goes. Well let me tell you, Malcolm Middleton does, not only are there two on the front cover of his new album, but the album itself is called Bananas. The ex-Arab Strap man is backed by piano, double bass and drums with King Creosote and Withered Hand featuring on backing Vocals. LP on Triassic Tusk.

Withered Hand
Stay Golden

Triassic Tusk are trying something a little new for their new 7” series. Each release features an original song, and a cover of a song by the next artist in the series. So in this case you have Stay Golden by Withered Hand and his cover of Jo Foster’s Plenty Courage. Withered Hand’s intimate acoustic style should such you into this series with ease.

Lomond Campbell / Modern Studies
Father Is A Craftsman / Every Florist In Every Town

To celebrate the live concert meeting of Scottish innovators Modern Studies and Lomond Campbell at this year's Fringe (you've missed it), Triassic Tusk is putting out a limited 7" of the two artists covering each other's music. Hopefully that'll give you some sense of what went down in Edinburgh in August 2017, but you'll have to imagine the 10-piece string section to really get the effect.

The Sexual Objects / Boards of Canada / Andrew Weatherall / Wavne
Sometimes

Yikes! Just look at the remix goodness on offer here. Sexual Objects is of course the latest project from the Fire Engines Davy Henderson. News in itself but when you have a Boards of Canada remix and an Andrew Weatherall remix alongside another mix from newcomer Wavne then these news gets overshadowed somewhat. 1000 only. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

The Sexual Objects
Marshmallow

Oddball music release strategy part 543: Lead Sexual Object Davy Henderson (the Fire Engines, Nectarine Number 9) put the master tape for this completed record up for auction, sat back and waited to see what happened. Sure enough upcoming Scottish imprint Triassic Tusk put in a bid and they got it. And here it is released in an edition of 300 copies.

Lomond Campbell
Only A City Apart

Scottish label Triassic Tusk does good by everyone again by uncovering this lost EP by Lomond Campbell. Originally privately commissioned and pressed very limitedly. Following their music for all policy they have stuck ‘em out for us to enjoy. Fitting sweetly next to King Creosote, Only A City Apart is heart-warming indie pop with electronic edges and soaring vocals.

Lomond Campbell
Black River Promise

Lomond Campbell put together his debut album Black River Promise in the manner of several lonely-eyed young men before him: by decamping to somewhere remote (in this case, an abandoned school in the Scottish Highlands) to be alone with his thoughts and his music. The pop-folk results are deep and remarkable, augmented with a ten-piece string ensemble. Clear LP on Triassic Tusk.

Jo Foster
I’ll Be Thinking Of You All The Time

Triassic Tusk are releasing a series of 7"s and their press releases are straight to the point. "Jo Foster is amazing" they tell us. I think that sleeve is amazing too. Just look at those people having fun. Here Jo does one of her own songs plus covers one by King Creosote. I'm sure there will be more in this series so collect the whole set!

King Creosote
The Lengths

Favourite of my dad, most of my friends and family but strangely yet to tug at my heartstrings, Scottish man King Creosote here releases a 7" containing one old song and one cover of something by Lomond Campbell.  At nearly a tenner it wilol cost you but you won't be getting these tunes anyplace else.

Screamers, Bangers & Cosmic Synths

The first pressing of this shot out. Now they are repressing it for a second and final time. A compilation of incredible and incredibly rare tracks selected by The Moon Hop’s resident DJ Stephen Marshall. Expect oddities covering protest pop, disco, funk and soul, definitely worth adding to the collection.
