Silicon Scally
Dormant

Carl Finlow has been making original electro records for the past two decades. He records under a number of names - Carbon Academy, Random Factor and Voice Stealer - but his latest release is under his beloved Silicon Scally handle. Dormant EP is anything but - constantly evolving and meticulously detailed synths and drum programming from start to finish. Finlow proving once again that he's still a masterful electro producer and has evolved as an artist since his early Silicon Scally records on Daz Quayle's esteemed SCSI-AV label.

Patricia Kokett
Bizarr

New on Knekelhuis is the latest rumblings from Patricia Kokett who has created Bizzar to represent sonically the cultures and festivities of Phuket, Thailand. The album contains six elongated pieces with a clear sense of transcendence inspired by an annual escapade to the resort. Life-affirming and soothing collages of sound.

Dylan Henner
The Invention of the Human

Following his debut EP which arrived just last year, there’s yet more great new music from American artist Dylan Henner on the way. On this full-length album, The Invention of the Human, Henner deals in minimalism and ambience with hints of new age, and creates something that feels like a soundtrack to a film that doesn’t exist.

JT Whitfield
Untitled

A blackly appropriate soundtrack for the world around us collapsing during lockdown, Untitled is Texan experimental artist JT Whitfield’s first release for the L.I.E.S. imprint. A mini-album of six pieces of ominously slow and mightily destructive industrial electronic music, it’s a physically draining experience.

Heinali
Madrigals

'Madrigals' by Ukranian composer and sound artist Heinali is an album where the old meets the new. He’s taken inspiration from the polyphonous music of the late-Medieval and Renaissance periods, using instruments from the time, and combined them with modern composition and modular synths. This combination has created a beautiful electroacoustic soundscape, something Heinali is no stranger to.

Aphex Twin
Windowlicker

What is left to say about 'Windowlicker' that hasn't already been said? The most perfect piece of electronic music ever produced? It's sexy, it's slinky, it's odd, it's the sort of thing that if things worked properly would have been a worldwide smash. No-one has quite come up with anything since that blends the out there with the streamlined. Oh and that video.

Tangerine Dream
The Sessions II

Sessions II by Tangerine Dream sees the band harking back to their ‘70s heyday when their live shows consisted mainly of improvisation. Their shows, once again, contain a segment of improvised music. These improvisations are being clipped from the live shows and released under the banner of Sessions.

Alex Mackay
Targazer

'Targazer' is the solo debut of Alex Mackay, the young lad who had the onerous task of becoming Mogwai's live guitarist after founding member John Cummings departed. It's a little more out there than the music of his work colleagues, matching frenzied beats to heavy sludge using experimental computer processing and sampling techniques. Pretty unrelenting stuff - think a more glitched-out take on Fuck Buttons.

Four Tet

Yes, Hebden's here. Releasing very soon indeed is his newest Four Tet record and hopefully it'll be slightly more inventive than the laissez-faire samplefest that was Morning / Evening. Grauzone
Eisbär

12” single re-issue of ‘Eisbär’, the 1981 hit single from short-lived SWiss outfit Grauzone. Meaning ‘polar bear’ in German and evoking an icy, Arctic atmosphere, this synthy post-punk gem was a substantial success in the band’s native country and is now regarded as a minor genre classic. Contains Grauzone’s two other minor hits ‘FILM 2’ and ‘Ich Lieb Sie’ on the B-side.

Hot Chip
Late Night Tales

The time has come for Hot Chip to curate their edition of the popular compilation series 'Late Night Tales'. Hot Chip even contribute a track to proceedings themselves - a cover of The Velvet Underground’s 'Candy Says', no less.

Caribou
Melody Day

So we're all re-pressing 7's now? Melody Day was taken from Caribou's 2007 era album Andorra and showcases his swirly psychedelic approach to music making. The Cult of Free Love
Visions

Following two well-received EPs that arrived at the end of last year, international collective The Cult Of Free Love finally get around to releasing their second studio album. 2016’s Love Revolution saw them compared to dance luminaries from Andrew Weatherall to Kraftwerk, and Visions cements that reputation.

Mastered by Noel Summerville, it arrives in a gatefold sleeve adorned with original artwork by Theo Ellsworth.

Schlammpeitziger
Ein Weltleck in der Echokammer

Schlammpeitziger (Mud Whip) is the recording moniker of Jo Zimmerman, who turns his hand to illustration and performance art as well as music. Ein Weltleck in der Echokammer (A World Leak In The Echo Chamber, apparently) is hsi 10th album. The music he’s been making since 1992 is best described as weirdo lo-fi eletronica-meets-krautrock. Here he even blends in some ethereal dub loops. Although according to his friend and reggae expert, Bettina Lattak, his music has always shown reggae influences.

Chiminyo
I Am Panda

Chiminyo is a percussionist who makes music that music wanders from its jazz foundations into the worlds of hip-hop, experimental electronic music and a sort of futuristic pop style. He has a drum kit laden with all sorts of tech which enables him to blend raw, live kit tones with electronic sounds and samples. It's all very Jordan Rakei (or do we mean Bonobo?). 'I Am Panda', Chiminyo's debut album, is released on Gearbox.

Renegade Breakdown represents a slight parting from club culture and the style that has seen Davidson relentlessly tour the globe, more songwriterly and less overtly dancefloor-orientated.

Franck Vigroux
Ballades sur lac gelé

Ballades Sur Lac Gelé had its genesis in Franck Vigroux’s friendship with the late Finnish electronic music maestro Mika Vainio, and is dedicated to him. The raw material for the album was created years ago, with the coronavirus pandemic providing an opportunity for Vigroux to finish it.

Drew McDowall
The Third Helix

Drew McDowall, formerly of Coil, once again delves into the concepts that drove those legendary sonic explorers.
