Bobby Krlic
Midsommar (Original Score)

Bobby Krlic removed his Haxan Cloak to work alongside film director Ari Aster on Midsommar. The movie is a pagan horror in the Wicker Man mould, and Krlic’s frightening compositions really augment the sense of ceremonial doom that pervades Midsommar. Nails-on-blackboard screeches, pulse-racing drums, unsettling micropolyphonic drones, it’s all in there. Krlic's music is in dialogue with the great and the good of chilling movie scores, from György Ligeti to Johnny Greenwood to Dean Hurley.

Eric Serra
Léon (Musique Du Film De Luc Besson)

A vinyl version of Eric Serra’s pointed and emotional soundtrack to Luc Besson’s beloved and controversial 1994 action thriller movie Léon, starring Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and a young Natalie Portman. Available for the first time in LP form, it's presented over four sides of vinyl and released on Wagram Records.

Dan The Automator
Booksmart (Original Motion Picture Score)

Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut 'Booksmart' has garnered plenty of plaudits, not least for its charming soundtrack. We’re used to hearing Dan The Automator in hip-hop mode, and you can be sure to find plenty of breaks and beats across his compositions here. However, these more standard tricks come twinned with some of the most widescreen and ambitious arrangements the producer has ever attempted - chamber strings, 70’s cop-show guitars and library funk are all thrown into the mix on the 'Booksmart OST'.

Ramin Djawadi
Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Selections from the HBO Series) [The Iron Throne Version]

If you can't afford the 3LP set we are selling elsewhere on this wonderful site then for £9.99 cheaper you can get a truncated version of Ramin Djawadi's soundtrack from the eighth and worst series of HBO's poorly-lit sword drama. This is a single length version, with tracks selected by we're not sure who but it results in a nice bite-sized version containing all your eighth series favourite tunes.

Adam Wiltzie
American Woman OST

American Woman is a film about a woman who looks after her grandson when her daughter mysteriously disappears. It was directed by Ridley Scott’s son, Jake Scott and stars Sienna Miller, Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame and Christina Hendricks. As we are talking about the soundtrack here though, what you really need to know is that it was composed and performed by Adam Wiltzie, a founding member of Norman faves Stars of The Lid and A Winged Victory For The Sullen.

Alan Silvestri
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

That darned rabbit...or am I thinking of Bugs Bunny...or Tom and Jerry? Anyway, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is still to this day a landmark in animated filmmaking and has gained enough plaudits to fell a horse. Now you can get Alan Silvestri's soundtrack in its entirety with new artwork from Stan and Vince. Genre wise it's all over the place from cartoon wackiness to near horror show noir to 1940s-era standards. A whole heap of fun.

Susumu Hirasawa
Berserk

Susumu Hirasawa’s score for the 1997 anime classic Berserk makes it to vinyl for the first time courtesy of Tiger Labs. Like plenty of other late-90’s electronica, this selection is at once high-octane and yet strangely beatific. The combination of Taiwanese pop, noisy techno, post-minimalist classical composition and ambient synth work is rather lovely.

Crumb

Snazzy picture disc vinyl edition of the soundtrack to the 1994 documentary Crumb concerning legendary cartoonist Robert Crumb.  The soundtrack begins with the artist musing on music and life before featuring several jazz and ragtime styled pieces featuring David Boeddinghaus and Craig Ventresco. It wouldn't be complete without some of Crumb's beloved old time folk blues thrown in for good measure. Nice looking disc.

Ramin Djawadi
Game Of Thrones (Music from the HBO Series)

I tried to watch Episode one, season one of Game of Thrones but it was there I gave up, not particularly being a fan of dragons or graphic violence. Put me off my cornflakes I can tell you. What I did enjoy though was Ramin Djawadi's beautiful soundtrack work. The composer was already famous for Clash of the Titans and other myriad soundtrack work but here he comes into his own with great big billowing sounds of sorrow that perfectly capture of being hit by a sword in the depths of winter.

The Sun Is Also A Star (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The Sun Is Also A Star. Can’t argue with that, I suppose. Ry Russo-Young roped in East Of My Youth’s Herdís Stefánsdóttir to score his adaptation of Nicola Yoon’s young adult novel. The Icelandic artist delivered Russo-Young a set of contemporary classical chamber compositions with a strong whiff of Ólafur Arnalds to them. Not to be confused with the equally wonderful soundtrack album that featured Marilyn Manson, the Prodigy and Rage Against The Machine, this is Don Davis’ original music composed for 1999’s iconic sci-fi smash 'The Matrix'. Davis noticed that mirrors were a recurrent image throughout the film, and used that as the inspiration for his score.

David Helbock
Playing John Williams

Pianist David Helbock does the hits with a twist on new LP 'Playing John Williams'. This record finds him - who’d have thought? - playing John Williams, but rather than serving straight-up keyboard arrangements of some of Williams’ classic work we find Helbock putting a jazzy spin on them here. See how, say, Williams’ classic 'Schindler’s List' theme is spun out into something more languid when placed in Helbock’s hands.

Original soundtrack to the acclaimed animated celebrity satire BoJack Horseman. The show follows the life of its title character, a burnt out celebrity horse who was famous for generic 90s sitcom ‘Horsin’ Around’. This LP from Lakeshore Records comes out on a limited run of picture disc editions.

Turquoise Moon
Midnight Demon 2

The producers of 1986 horror flick Midnight Demon 2 were kind enough to give Turquoise Moon enough of a budget to record the soundtrack in a studio. When the synth duo of LA musicians Terry Ferello and Frank Heisenberg recorded the first, they could only afford to do it in a basement. The upgrade meant they could afford a drummer and they could achieve a darker, heavier, grittier soundtrack.

No Man's Sky: Music For An Infinite Universe

Epic game No Man's Sky is moving so slowly towards its release date that its soundtrack is coming out before it. The RPG is part space opera, part galactic filibuster, offering an endlessly generative online universe for you to travel around -- in which the designers have claimed you will never meet a fellow traveller. Supplying the soundtrack to this infinite labour of love? 65daysofstatic, of course. The Sheffield post-rockers used new programmes to create a supplementary generative soundtrack for the game, and while it'll be a while 'til we'll be able to hear every inch of it (maybe we never will), the official soundtrack offers ten original tracks from the score, plus six of the game's soundscapes. It's just like the old saying goes: in space... there are post-rock bands.

Pino Donaggio
Trauma (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The reason that 1993’s Trauma is an outlier in the oeuvre of Italian movie director Dario Argento is because it doesn’t feature a soundtrack from Goblin. Partly due to pressure from the studio, Argento ditched his usual set of librarian weirdos for a more ornate orchestral score by Pino Donaggio. Donaggio’s stately-yet-strange compositions would have struck a chord with contemporaneous viewers still feeling the impact of Twin Peaks. Now Death Waltz have put the Trauma OST on vinyl for the first time.

Music from the Batman Trilogy

A treat for fans of the Christopher Nolan Batman films here, or specifically the music of said films. Nolan used two of the best movie score composers around in Hans Zimmer and James Newton-Howard to score his take on Batman. 'Music From The Batman Trilogy' performed by London Music Works and The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra gathers together the two composers' best work from each of the three films.

John Williams received Academy Award nominations for the two films he scored. Here we have the music from all 8 movies performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The all-encompassing dread and claustrophobia of Capcom’s debut ‘Resident Evil’ game was largely down to its atmospheric and ground-breaking soundtrack, composed by Masami Ueda, Makoto Tomozawa and Akira Kaida. Over 20 years after its release, it’s been remastered and is pressed on to two heavyweight black vinyls.

Spider-Jazz – KPM Cues Used In The Amazing Animated Series - That We Are Not Allowed To Mention For Legal Reasons

I would have to believe that the title says it all, for this one. A 1967 cartoon about a web-slinger (maybe) who has become an internet sensation (maybe) is given the physical soundtrack it deserves, it's dramatic detective jazz given this beguiling release. A must-have for fans of music and mishaps in television history.

Self Discovery For Social Survival (The Original Soundtrack)

Self Discovery for Social Survival is a cool movie about surfing, with a more than cursory crossover with cool alternative music. Allah Las, an LA psych-rock band, both star in the film and provide a fair portion of its soundtrack, as heard here. As well as their excellent survey vibes, this collection also includes weird and wonderful new material from Peaking Lights, Connan Mockasin, Dungen and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma. Out on Mexican Summer.

Graham and Casey Edwards to name a few - this is the soundtrack to Capcom’s long-running action-adventure Devil May Cry 5, released in early 2019. As demented and fun as the game itself.

Graham Coxon
The End Of The F***ing World (Original Songs and Score)

The End Of The F***ing World (Original Songs and Score) by Graham Coxon marks the Blur guitarist’s first foray into the world of soundtracks. Graham was inspired by the Channel 4/Netflix production’s dark comedy and found himself working at uncharacteristically fast pace with the final tracks selected from around 40 pieces he’d written. Look out for the single Walking All Day, which will be lifted from the album. LP on Graham Coxon Records.

Randy Miller
Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth

Unsurprisingly, Hellraiser III: Hell On Earth is the third film featuring Pinhead, based on characters from novels by horror writer Clive Barker. The film featured a bunch of heavy metal songs by the likes of Motorhead and KMFDM, but to provide true dramatic tension, it also had an orchestral score composed by Randy Miller. This is the score’s first vinyl release, which is pressed on red with black smoke coloured vinyl and features liner notes by Miller.

Howard Shore
The Silence Of The Lambs (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Howard Shore's score to the 1991 classic horror/thriller film 'The Silence of the Lambs' is the ideal soundtrack to enjoy some fava beans and a nice chianti to. The composer may be best-known for his stunning score to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but his work here is just as quality, perfectly complementing the suspenseful narrative and the tentative scenes which feature Dr. Lecter.

Riz Ortolani
Warriors Of The Year 2072 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Warriors Of The Year 2072 is a Lucio Fulci film that gives us an idea of how the future looked from 1984 (pretty intense and deadly apparently). The soundtrack was provided by the capable film synthster Riz Ortolani, in one of his most entertaining scores, as befits a film about futuristic motorbike murder competitions. Reissued by Death Waltz.

Max Richter
My Brilliant Friend (TV Series Soundtrack)

The vinyl soundtrack to the acclaimed American-Italian TV series ‘My Brilliant Friend’, the first-ever foreign language endeavour by HBO and based on Elena Ferrante’s best-selling novel ‘L’Amica Geniale’. Max Richter provides a beautiful original score to a unique exploration of female friendship.

Graham Reynolds
A Scanner Darkly (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

It's an all-out cult classic brawl as the legendary soundtrack to A Scanner Darkly hits our shelves. Composed by Graham Reynolds, the soundtrack introduces a myriad of disparate sounds, each bitesize and extreme, moving between horror soundscapes, surfy instrumentals and twanging country hints. Considering Philip K. Dick's esoteric vision of a paranoid dystopia in the throes of drug addiction, Reynolds' ever-shifting soundtrack feels fitting, refusing to embrace the world it's wrapped up in.

Chronicling his life in both the personal and professional sphere, it needs one of those minimal but ultimately touching soundtracks, and composer Jóhann Jóhannsson steps up to the plate to provide one, creating nuanced but detailed works typical of his style.

Jóhann Jóhannsson
Mandy (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The horror film Mandy, directed by Panos Cosmatos and starring Nicholas “Not the bees” Cage, was the late Jóhann Jóhannsson’s final film score commission. Easily as equipped to convey the intense unease required of a horror film soundtrack as the pathos of its more melancholy stages, Jóhannsson also enlists Stephen O’Malley of Sunn O))) on guitar.

Jóhann Jóhannsson
The Mercy (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Aside from his solo output and numerous collaborations, Jóhann Jóhannsson has been growing a long list of film scores, including Arrival, Prisoners, and The Theory Of Everything. His latest is this score for James Marsh’s The Mercy, about the infamous sailing voyage of Donald Crowhurst. Released on Deutsche Grammophon.

Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein
Stranger Things: Season 1 - Volume 2

1980’s horror series Stranger Things has been extremely well received for its careful reconstruction of 1980’s film tropes, and the soundtrack is no exception. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein have done a sterling job of absorbing all that John Carpenter and Vangelis, and have produced an addictive suite of motifs in the vintage style. Out on Invada.

Stranger Things 2 (A Netflix Original Series Soundtrack)

The SURVIVE members return with their soundtrack to the second series of the Netflix sci-fi show. Recalling the classic synth scores of Tangerine Dream and John Carpenter is part of their remit, but this isn’t just lazy nostalgic simulation - there’s oodles of inventiveness, sensitivity and drama here. And one can only imagine Dixon and Stein had an absolute blast making it. As Dustin might say, you will not resist these pearls! Jewel case CD or lavish double LP in both black and clear/splatter editions.

Stranger Things: Season 1 - Volume 1

I don't really have to sell this to you do I? First up it's the soundtrack for Netflix new telly programme that Phil tells me is good. Secondly it has a synth vibe reminiscent of all those synth guys you know and love. You can bet your house that the first name I'm going to throw at you is John Carpenter closely followed by Tangerine Dream, Cliff Martinez and a bit of Aphex Twin thrown in for good measure. Created by two of the guys from S U R V I V E. Sold.

Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto
The Revenant

Erstwhile film soundtrack composer Ryuichi Sakamoto is joined by strict digital minimalist Alva Noto, a frequent collaborator in Sakamoto’s non-soundtrack work. For the Leonardo DiCaprio film The Revenant, the pair fold together dramatic orchestral themes and cold electronic ambience: from listening, I feel like The Revenant might be a tense watch.

Scott Walker
The Childhood of a Leader - Original Soundtrack

Wow! Brand new Scott Walker! The avant-crooner legend has been enlisted to create a full-blown orchestral score to Brady Corbet’s The Childhood of a Leader, a Satre adaptation set in 1919. There’s plenty of the dissonance of late-period Walker at play here, a perfect fit with the tense psychology of the film. On 4AD.
