The Chemical Brothers
Out Of Control (Secret Psychedelic Mix)

Taken from the forthcoming 20th anniversary box set re-issue of 1999’s classic Surrender - for which the original served as the third single release - this is the Chemical Brothers’ own Secret Psychedelic mix of ‘Out Of Control’ pressed on to one-sided limited edition vinyl. Tom and Ed take the version we all know and love and transports it to much weirder and more wonderful places.

Donna Summer / Earth, Wind & Fire with The Emotions
I Feel Love (Patrick Cowley Mega Mix) / Boogie Wonderland (12" Version)

Patrick Cowley’s Mega Mix of Donna Summer’s disco classic ‘I Feel Love’ became a beloved favourite of music nerds in 1978, taking the sensuous original and stretching it out over nearly 16 minutes. Now Cowley’s version is more widely available on 12” vinyl, and just for good measure, they’ve thrown in an eight-minute mix of Earth, Wind & Fire’s 1979 hit ‘Boogie Wonderland’ on the flip side.

Andras
Joyful

An otherworldly dance album from Melbourne-based artist Andras - a.k.a. Andrew Wilson. Available at the end of January via the Beats In Space label, Joyful is an exploration of his formative influences as a teenager, and the results are both sentimental and tender yet capable of filling dancefloors.

The Chemical Brothers
Brotherhood

Despite being only a few years away from the release of their first greatest hits compilation Greatest 93-03, big-beat scientists The Chemical Brothers decided to let us gorge ourselves on their biggest singles all over again with 2008’s Brotherhood (The Definitive Singles Collection). To be fair, the years after Greatest 93-03 had seen the group produce some of their biggest hits (‘Galvanize’, ‘Do It Again’), and Brotherhood also comes with two exclusive tunes and a bonus disc of big-room techno tools that are all called ‘Electronic Battle Weapons’, so a new compilation does seem justified.

Daft Punk
Discovery

Discovery was the second album from playful Parisian electronic duo Daft Punk. It marked a shift away from their debut Homework in being more inspired by R&B and disco than the earlier Chicago House influenced sound. It was also around this time the duo became robots shedding their previous human based presentation. The most famous track on the album is probably Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger having been sampled by Kanye West.

The Juan Maclean
The Future Will Come

The Juan Maclean (actually the more prosaically-named John MacLean) is a former member of Six Finger Satellite who has become something of a DFA mainstay. Th Future Will come was his second album from 2009 which he wrote with LCD Soundsystem member Nancy Whang helped out by synth duo Holy Ghost. It is heavily influenced by the Human League both in its synth-led sound and with the male/female narrative that runs through its ten tracks.

Donna McGhee
Make It Last Forever

Donna Summer wasn’t the only disco-diva in NYC named Donna, you know. Those on the ground knew that Donna McGhee’s 1978 LP ‘Make It Last Forever’ was one of the must-have joints of the time, a set of ultra-sexy funk and disco struts that remain as smooth as crushed velvet to this day. Long a record that went for big bucks on the vinyl black market, ‘Make It Last Forever’ has now been remastered and reissued at a more affordable rate by WEWANTSOUNDS.

Patrick Cowley
Mechanical Fantasy Box

Patrick Cowley is probably best known as a Hi-NRG pioneer writing and producing hits for disco diva Sylvester. However he was also somewhat of an early electronic pioneer writing experimental electronic pieces inspired by Kraftwerk. Here are thirteen unreleased songs recorded between the years 1973 and 1980 showcasing these electronic work he recorded using only the primitive equipment available to him at the time. Proceeds to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Chris Moss Acid
Machine Heavy

Chris Moss Acid and Balkan Vinyl make perfect sense together. In fact, it’s quite surprising to find out that Machine Heavy is the first EP from the Bournemouth producer to be released on Posthuman’s label. This is a typically nutty set of tracks, all super-trippy techno textures and guttersnipe drums and fire-in-the-booth rave synths.

Drama
Dance Without Me

Despite a healthy and prodigious output since they formed five years ago, the Chicago-based outfit Drama are only now releasing their debut album. Fortunately, Dance Without Me benefits from the many months of careful planning and tweaking, dealing with heartbreak, self-care and self-forgiveness, with singer Via Rosa’s lyrics and delivery the focal point.

Floorplan
Fiyaaaa! / His Eye Is On The Sparrow feat. Carol Otis

Since 2016, Floorplan has been a compelling collaboration between Nineties techno icon Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, a coming together of the old-school and the cutting-edge. While they put together another studio album, this 12” single arrives to plug the gap, consisting of a new track ‘Fiyaaaa!’ along with a cover of gospel hymn ‘His Eye Is On The Sparrow’.

SebastiAn
Total

This was the debut album from French electronic artist SebastiAn who you can see kissing himself on the sleeve art. He probably should have also kissed Daft Punk whose sound this isn't all that far away from. An eclectic romp through disco synth and electronica, it was heralded as one of the Dance albums of the year on release. It has literally loads of songs which Because Music have spread over a 2LP + CD re-issue.

Sassy J
Patchwork

Patchwork is the latest compilation from Rush Hour, compiled by Sassy J. It is named after a night the Swiss DJ runs in Bern and London. 2000 Black, Carlos Niño & Friends, Mr. Fingers, Ivan 'Mamão’ Conti and WaH-ChU-KU all feature on what DJ Spinna enthusiastically calls the compilation of the year.

Theo Parrish
First Floor

First Floor was the debut album by Detroit DJ and producer, Theo Parrish. It was originally released in 1998. It seamlessly blends house, dub, jazz, soul and electronica to make a highly influential and timeless set of tracks that is still influencing dance music today. Contains the sensational track, Heal Yourself and Move.

Paranoid London
(Vi-Vi) Vicious Games

What Vicious Games to play, what vicious things to do. No, this new release from Paranoid London and Josh Caffe has nothing to do with Chris Isaak’s timeless masterpiece with the similar name. In fact, ‘(Vi-Vi) Vicious Games’ is an altogether different vibe, a gloriously sultry Hercules And Love Affair-style house jam. On the (Vi-Vi) Vicious Games EP the original comes backed with a radio edit and an acid-drenched dub. Great stuff.

Automat
Automat

'Automat' by Automat is, for the uninitiated, what can only be described as a space disco album. The Italian duo of Romano Musumarra and Claudio Gizzi were inspired after meeting ground-breaking electronic instrument maker Mario Maggi. The album includes the track ‘Droid’, a classic piece of early electronica. Originally released in 1978, Automat is reissued by Tempo Dischi.

Theo Parrish with Maurissa Rose
This Is Your You

Sound Signature Records presents a new 12” single from legendary American DJ and producer Theo Parrish, who teams up with vocalist Maurissa Rose for ‘This Is For You’, his first new music in around half a decade. The reverse side of the single contains an instrumental version of the same track.

Lindstrom
On a Clear Day I Can See Forever

Lindstrøm presents his sixth solo studio album On A Clear Day I Can See Forever. Based around long, one-take recordings and inspired by the material he wrote for a special performance last winter at Norway’s Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, the new record has essentially seen him debunk his old ways of creating music, using physical instruments and not computer technology.

British electronic music producer and DJ Michael Greene, better known under his stage name Fort Romeau, presents two long-form house music tracks on this new 12” single, pairing ‘Dweller On the Threshold’ with ‘Kontra Punkte’, as a follow-up to his most recent studio album Heaven & Earth released earlier in 2019.

Featuring Inaya Day in great form on backing vocals, Hifi Sean and veteran house star Crystal Waters follow up their 2017 US Billboard Dance chart-topper ‘Testify’ with another collaborative track. Following a string of acclaimed 12” singles that have found their way into the world since 2015, London-based DJ and producer O’Flynn - backed publicly by the likes of James Blake, Kieran Hebden and Gilles Peterson - delivers his debut studio album Aletheia. If it’s true to previous form, it ought to establish him among modern dance music’s heavyweights.

Bob Chance
It's Broken

The classic privately-pressed record re-issued for no other reason that it's pretty darn interesting. Bob Chance self released this in 1980 and seemed to be trying to make something somewhere between Bob Hope and Giorgio Moroder but what comes out is a kind of repetitive Arthur Russell-in-disco-mode slab of lo-fi pulse. As eccentric as it comes and just look at that sleeve...and those arms!

This double-vinyl soundtrack contains 17 iconic tracks that were the backdrop to the era and the rave scene, including bangers by Leftfield, Liquid Liquid and Orbital plus deep cuts from the likes of Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin and Mark Bell (LFO).

Welcome To Paradise (Italian Dream House 89-93) Vol. 2

‘Dream House’, in case you didn’t know, is a special Italian spin-off of the deep house sound: a sort of Mediterranean cousin to UK ambient house artists. It’s a gorgeous style with properly blissful vibes and big sweet melodies, and Welcome To Paradise Vol. 2, which covers the period 1989 to 1993, is an expertly-curated collection of the genre’s highlights. Videosex

Videosex, you say? Consider us interested. This lot were a hot prospect at the time when their area of the former Yugoslavia was beginning to become Slovenia. 1984’s eponymous debut LP - here reissued by Rush Hour - is a set of breathless Cold War synth-pop that will push all the right buttons if you’ve been enjoying Deutschland 86 of late.

Welcome To Paradise (Italian Dream House 90-94) Vol. 3

I don’t know about you, but when I first read the title of Welcome To Paradise I did so in the voice that kicks off The Avalanches’ seminal Since I Left You. While the music here may come from the worlds of Italo-Disco and Balearic House rather than plunderphonics, there’s certainly a shared vibe between the two records, a pleasingly cerebral halcyon glow with just a tinge of wistfulness. For the third time, Young Marco’s Safe Trip Records have unearthed a load of gems.

D.K.
Rising EP

Rising is the third and final EP in a trilogy by D.K. this EP sees D.K. in a darker mood than the previous two EPs. D.K. neatly ties strangling motifs from the trilogy together. There are battle songs here that would soundtrack the stylised fight scenes from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or The Matrix and a closing track that balances melancholy and euphoria perfectly. 12” EP on Antnote.

Underworld
Dubnobasswithmyheadman

Underworld’s 1994 LP ‘Dubnobasswithmyheadman’ is arguably one of the most influential British electronic records of all time. 20 years on since its release, Underworld’s Rick Smith has remastered it to celebrate its anniversary. Presented as a deluxe reissue, this altered version of an iconic classic is more of a revamp than a rework, uncoverng an abundance of previously unreleased material and rare alternate mixes, offering a definitive version of its original companion.

Romare
Gone / Danger

Romare has done two important things in the last two years. Firstly he made the two tracks on this 12" but more importantly perhaps he learnt to ride a motorbike. I have utterly no idea on what this tidbit of information this has on this record which is his first new material since the acclaimed Love Songs: Part Two. Expect direct dancefloor driven electronica with doomy bass lines and perhaps if we are lucky the distant hum of a two stroke engine.

808 State
Gorgeous

In 1980s Manchester one of the most terrifying things to do (and there were a lot of terrifying things to do in 1980s Manchester) would be to go into Eastern Bloc records and ask for... I dunno the latest dance pop smash by Paul Hardcastle. Behind the counter was Martin Price who would later go on to form 808 State. As you can imagine he had exquisite taste which lent itself to the techno and house explorations he would go on to produce. Gorgeous was their fourth album and features a Joy Division sample, a UB40 rework and the vocals of Liverpool gob Ian McCulloch.

Don Solaris

The band once monikered Bob State by someone at Top of the Pops are  - despite that  - electronic music legends. Son Solaris was their 1996 era opus which brought a more rocky influence into their works but is still deep and immersive and full of contrasting moods. DJ Seinfeld
Parallax EP

Swedish artist Armand Jakobsson drops another new DJ Seinfeld EP on 12” vinyl, consisting of four tracks of his trademark emotional workouts, lush cuts of deep house, breaks, acid and general left-of-field trickery. Often pigeonholed into the whole lo-fi house scene, DJ Seinfeld has proved time again that he's a far more versatile producer with wider appeal - as evidenced when Apex Twin dropped his excellent 'Sakura'. Released through the producers own Young Ethics label.

Trentemøller
Obverse

Danish producer Anders Trentemøller returns after three years to deliver his fifth studio record. Dabbling in the fertile ground between indie and electronica since he first emerged back in 2006, Obverse sees him force himself out of his comfort zone and compose with little regard as to how to replicate the songs live.

MOGADISCO - Dancing Mogadishu (Somalia 1972 - 1991)

Rescued from a pile of dusty cassettes in the corner of the archives of Radio Mogadishu a couple of years back, MOGADISCO - Dancing Mogadishu is one of the most lovingly compiled collections in recent memory. Capturing strange instrumental music ranging from ersatz disco tunes to background music for radio, Analog Africa’s Samy Ben Redjeb presents a real insight into Somalia’s underground over a 20-year period from 1972 to 1991.

Containing lush soundscapes and worldly flavours of instrumentation, Bristol-based Shanti Celeste serves up her zesty debut album - 'Tangerine'. Daft Punk
Random Access Memories

Random Access Memories was the Daft Punk album that we were led to believe by an excitable media was pretty much the future of music rolled up in an unrelenting summer hit machine. Fortunately we own our own ears so, like, many others, we could independently decide that it was... just a bit average really despite a star strewn guest list and addictive lead single Get Lucky. Still, if we're trying to get all nostalgic about 2013 (or 1977) it is the first place to turn to.

Cold War on the Rocks ‐ Disco and Electronic Music From Finland 1980‐1991

Cold War on the Rocks ‐ Disco and Electronic Music From Finland 1980‐1991 is a kind of Nuggets for Finnish Dance music. This is part two in a series - the follow up to Satan In Love. All the tracks come from obscure one-off 7” singles, in some cases by artists who are better known for working in different genres. They range from the relatively normal sounds of orchestral disco to the more unhinged and experimental electronic sounds.

Suzanne Kraft
Slam

Opening with the bright synth blasts of the self-titled opening track, the playfulness on Suzanne Kraft's (aka Diego Herrera) 3-track 'Slam' EP doesn't let up from there. Tenderlonious
Think Twice

The press release for Tenderlonious’ Think Twice EP proudly declares this thing to be ‘Detroit techno via Woking and South London!’. Well, we’ve no idea what music from Woking usually sounds like, and if we’re heading to the Midwest then honestly these tracks have more in common with the velveteen house aesthetic of Moodymann than they do with the tough techno of, say, Underground Resistance. At least they got the South London bit right - assuming that the South London scene they’re referring to is the jazz-tinged party stylings of labels like Rhythm Section International and not, like, So Solid Crew.

CZ Wang and Neo Image
Just Off Wave / Open Mic Beat

Full of chilled-out, sparse beats and a slurred vocal hook, 'Just Off Wave' by CZ Wang and Neo Image is a self-proclaimed "west coast party starter". Instrumental B-side 'Open Mic Beat' follows in this tradition, adding some classic vintage drum machine sounds 'longside some great phased hi-hats.

Q
The Voice Of Q

The Voice Of Q (by Q) has been a favourite of the leftfield disco heads out there ever since its original release in 1982. Following a substantial six years after their last outing, Work is the third album by New York-based indie-dance act Holy Ghost!. With its provocative Agnes Denes artwork, the album addresses the changing nature of work in the modern age. Most notably, it’s the first original new release in decades from the recently re-activated NY disco label West End Records.

Nana Love
Disco Documentary – Full Of Funk

This is purportedly one of the most mysterious Afro-Disco records produced in the 1970's. Its been unearthed by the BBE folks and forms the third instalment of their “Masters We Love” series. When the original album master tapes were found, unreleased material was discovered at the same time making this a bumper extended package. The music is perfectly poised between disco, boogie, soul and funk and is jam-packed with funky bass and top notch drum breaks and Nana wails like a banshee!

Les Choc Stars du Zaire / Teknokrat's
Nakombe Nga / What Did She Say

A Rush Hour reissue of a track by the superbly-named Les Choc Stars Du Zaire and Ben Nyambo here. 1989’s ‘Nakombe Nga’ is an ebullient fusion of Congolese Soukous with elements of disco and house. Fans of Tabu Ley Rochereau and Papa Wemba step this way. The Teknokrat's tune on the flip finds the same instrumental given a New Beat twist. Excellent release.

La Troupe
Dancing

Erezioni continues in its quest to unearth hidden treasures from European disco history. After the sell-out success of Liquid Mask’s ‘Just A Moment’, now the reissue label exhumes 1984’s ‘Dancing’ by La Troupe, an Italo-disco delight, and contains the ‘Mix’ and ‘Tab’ versions of the track re-mastered from the original master tape.

Repeat

Unlike many compilations with garish colours and the ubiquitous smiley face icon on the front, Repeat is not some tired trot through the old-skool classics. Instead, through prime cuts from LFO, Humanoid, μ-Ziq and the Future Sound of London, we get a lovingly assembled deep dive into the independent British dance scene of the early Nineties, and a proper insight into rave culture.

Ziad Rahbani
Abu Ali

A 12” re-issue of a rare and highly collectable album by Lebanese producer and pianist Ziad Rahbani from 1978. A skilled musician from a young age and a noted activist, Rahbani recorded this two-track suite at a studio in Athens for a limited run in his home country, but it eventually garnered something of a cult following, with original copies selling for triple figures.

Tony Allen / Ricardo Villalobos
Dekmantel 10 Years 10.1

Wrapping up a ten-EP series in celebration of as many years active, the Dutch imprint Dekmantel commissions from minimal techno heavyweight Ricardo Villalobos a whopping half-hour remix of Tony Allen’s 1999 tune ‘Asiko (In A Silent Mix)’. Villalobos weaves new effects and synthetic materials into the warm timbres of the original drums, brass and vocals, but keeps it tastefully balanced and highly groovy.

Helen (Italo disco artist)
Witch / Zanzibar

Dark Entries Editions reissue series continues with a double A-side of the first two Helen maxi singles, “Witch” and “Zanzibar”, as a 4-song EP. Helen was an Italo disco studio project that consisted of various producers, songwriters, and vocalists from Italy in the 1980s. The first line-up included popular Italo producers Piero Cairo and Massimo Noe, known for their work with Joe Yellow, Den Harrow, Pink Project, and Dharma to name a few. They were joined by prolific Italo session vocalist Elena Ferretti. “Witch” was originally released in 1983 on Out Records, a label distributed by Discomagic Records. Signature Linndrum and Simmons drums create the driving rhythm track while Elena’s powerful vocals tell the haunted tale of a witch and her magic.

Warm (Ron Trent)
Warm

Ron Trent has spent 30-odd years making emotive, widescreen dance music rooted in the Chicago house scene. Warm, his new 12” sees him incorporating some new sounds from new influences such as German experimentalists Cluster and New Jersey’s indie heroes Yo La Tengo. It’s a bit different for Trent, but it comes with his name on the label so you know you can trust it. 12” on Future Vision.

Life & Death On A New York Dance Floor (1980 - 1983) Part 1

Here we have the first of two records that will be released as backup to Tim Lawrence’s excellent book Life & Death On A New York Dancefloor, 1980-1983. The Love Saves The Day author and Arthur Russell biographer is surely the perfect curator for a compilation such as this one. Russell appears here in Dinosaur L form. We also get some big-hitters of the era (David Byrne, Alan Vega) rubbing shoulders with more obscure acts like Tuxedomoon.

Decadance
On And On (Fears Keep On)

Mmmm, delightful ‘dark italo’ from 1983 Italy. Decadence’s one and only release is the vital cut On And On (Fears Keep On), and it can still move a suitably-inclined dancefloor to this day. The Mannequin label here present a reissue of this fine track, freshly remastered and accompanied by its Dub version on the B-side. 12”.

Skyy
Here’s To You

Here's To You. A very simple sentiment, but one that is filled with generosity and kindness and selflessness. It's a marvel that Skyy was able to create a track that lives up to that name, but he did it. First released in 1980, this track has been inspiring dance floors from New York to everywhere else. Utterly transcendent disco.

Logg
Logg

Logg is Leroy Burgess, aka the Godfather of Boogie and member of '70s Harlem R&B group, Black Ivory. This eponymous album, originally released in 1981, is regarded as one of the greatest post-disco albums ever made. It’s a breezy masterclass in tight, funky bass and cosmic synth sounds. On Be With.

Jose Gonzalez
Let It Carry You Remixes

2 rather different takes on Jose Gonzalez’s material, taking his soft, warm, folky melodicism and filtering them through banks of electronics. Holy Ghost! do an Italo disco flavoured cut of Let It Carry You, whereas Dino Soccio’s goes for a more mellow-groove disco approach. Lovely approaches from both! 12” on Peacefrog.

Palmbomen II
Memories of Cindy Pt. 3

It's the mysterious Palmbomen II and his dedication continues with the release of Memories of Cindy Pt. 3. For the final individual record in the series, ahead of a planned 4-part set, expect pared-down house infused with luminescent, melodic acid grooves cutting through the West Coast city haze. Also, please find hues of Tangerine Dream. Limited 12" EP, on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space label.

Dinosaur L
24-24 Music

Nice to see this one come around for a vinyl reissue. Dinosaur L is one of the many pseudonyms that the late, great Arthur Russell elected to use. 24-24 Music is his best known statement under that name, containing legit-NY-disco-hits like ‘Go Bang!’ and ‘You’re Gonna Be Clean On Your Bean’. Join the avant-tinged disco party! Double LP.

Colored Music
Colored Music

Japanese duo, Colored Music’s 1981 debut is for fans of weird and obscure music. Their sound is utterly their own, however, if you imagine David Bowie’s Berlin trilogy spliced with the work of Japanese electronic pioneer Haruomi Hosono, it may give you an insight into their world of spacey new wave, weird disco, avant-garde synth pop, proto-house and post-punk glam. Interested? LP and CD on WRWTFWW Records.

Space Farm
Egyptology 0.5

Here we have Space Farm circa the mid-1990’s, when they were really feeling the Egyptian vibes. The tracks on Egyptology 0.5 were actually never originally released, which is wild when you hear the quality of the material. Rad slow-speed jams with thick synths, chunky percussion, and Arabic tones. Released now by Left Ear Records.

Posthuman
Cobalt Thorium G / Derek Carr Remix

First time releases on Weapons Of Desire for both Posthuman and Derek Carr here. 'Cobalt Thorium G' is an acid stomper by the former which the latter has a bit of fun with for his remix. The title is a reference to a particularly devastating radioactive compound described in Dr. Strangelove. These tracks will similarly lay waste to dancefloors.

David August
David August x Ron Trent x Rafael Anton Irisarri

David August surrenders two tracks from his D’Angelo album to a pair of very different producers, in order to see what very different results they hand back to him. Ron Trent works sweet house magic, as we knew he would, while Rafael Anton Irisarri takes the ‘Deconstruction’ part seriously, rendering the ‘Florence’ track into something cinematic and droning all of its own. EP on 99CHANTS.

Floorplan
So Glad / I Feel Him Moving

Floorplan, the duo of legendary producer Robert Hood and his daughter Lyric, come through with two slamming new DJ tools. ‘So Glad’ combines minimal techno, house, disco and gospel to ebullient effect, its choppy vocals and burbling bassline ricocheting around the club. On the flip, ‘I Feel Him Moving’ is a shuffling preacher-house delight in the vein of Simon’s ‘Free At Last’.

Yukihiro Fukutomi
Feel My Love Vibes

Only the most comprehensive deep house collectors outside Japan are likely to have felt Yukihiro Fukutomi’s love the first time around in 1992. For the first time, here’s another chance. This resides on the jazzier, funkier end of house; there’s tonky piano, vibraphone, lustful moaning and a bass line to die for. There are two primary versions plus a dub and an instrumental.

Cherushii & Maria Minerva
s/t

A beautiful but bittersweet EP here from Cherushii and Maria Minerva. The pair’s work on their recorded collaborative debut was cut short by Cherushii’s tragic death in the Ghost Ship fire. Minerva has since completed the unfinished EP, forming a wonderful queer-pop synthy tribute. EP on 100% Silk.

Trentemøller
The Last Resort

Dane Anders Trentemøller’s oily debut album is back for a 3LP repress on Poker Flat. Blending techno, IDM and synthpop with a slimy, dubby production style, Trent’s goes all-in on the swank, from rousing driving tune ‘Take Me Into Your Skin’ and compelling live bass crumbler ‘Vamp’ to minimal dancefloor stuff such as ‘Chameleon’.

Tenderlonious
Hard Rain

This new album by Tenderlonious, 'Hard Rain', looks like a nice mix of urban jazz and vintage hip-hop, with elements of ambient, funk, and trip-hop. Tenderlonious is not only a solo artist but the head of an up-and-coming record label 22a, a DJ, a producer, and multi-instrumentalist. This is clearly a one to watch.

The Chemical Brothers
No Geography

For the first time since 2015, big beats are back. Yep, The Chemical Brothers are at it again. No Geography, the duo’s ninth studio LP, is pretty classic Chem Bro fare. Once more we find them balancing pop nous with arena-sized techno instrumentals. Aurora features on several of the tracks here. Nene crops up as well.

The Prodigy
No Tourists

It appears that The Prodigy are still going. Liam Howlett’s scary dance project have been doing their thing for twenty-eight years now, and they’re showing no sign of letting up, so why not get on the bus an join ‘em. Hold on, the new album is called No Tourists, if they want to be pedantic the bus thing may cause a problem.

Mr. Fingers
Cerebral Hemispheres

It's happening! It's finally happening: Larry 'Mr. Fingers' Heard is about to bless us with his first long-player since 1994! The record includes a remixed version of 'Qwazars' from the well-received 'Outer Acid' EP, plus 14 brand new tracks; Cerebral Hemispheres features 18 tracks in total, on triple vinyl LP. Lush, soulful deep house par excellence from this immensely talented veteran of house.

ESG
Come Away With ESG

Discovered at a talent contest, ESG were the group of New York sisters who took soul and funk and stripped everything away so you were left with spindly and skeletal compositions heavy on the bass and minimal guitar. Factory Records saw the power in them and were involved in its initial release with legendary producer Martin Hannett doing some exploratory recordings with the band. The album has passed into legend being an influence on house and hip-hop and being sampled all over the place.

Leon Vynehall
Nothing Is Still

Well, Leon Vynhall wrote a book. In the mid 20th century Vynhall's grandparents emigrated to New York, a journey he has found incredibly inspirational. The sum is Nothing Is Still, an album, a novella, and more. What's more it features most of an orchestra. Vynhall's debut album is nothing if not ambitious.

Jagwar Ma
Every Now & Then

Catchy vocal hooks, groovy electronic pop and all with a big hats off nod to 90s dance culture. Jagwar Ma bring heady euphoric acid bass lines, warehouse club chords stabs and vocal loops and vibrant and drug-laced energy of Madchester. Deserves long exposure trippy music videos with vibrant cartoons, melon twisting.
