Featured artist: Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age formed in the aftermath of Kyuss disbanding in 1995. Frontman Josh Homme, bassist Nick Oliveri and drummer Alfredo Hernandez quickly set to work on their self-titled debut album which was released on a small independent label.

The Rated R album followed in 2000 on Interscope Records and the buzz around the group really began to gain momentum as they were given slots at bigger festivals in front of much larger crowds.

Dave Grohl took time away from the Foo Fighters to join forces with the band on Songs for the Deaf in 2002, which converted critical acclaim into commercial success. It also featured No One Knows which remains their biggest hit single to date.

Next up was Lullabies to Paralyze, which broke into the top 5 and saw their line-up change once more (adding multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes of Eleven), before ending their deal with Interscope in 2007 with Era Vulgaris.

Homme has continued to be involved in a host of other projects, most notably Them Crooked Vultures and Eagles of Death Metal. After a 6-year hiatus with members working on separate albums and ideas, QOTSA returned in 2013 with …Like Clockwork which gave them their first number one album. Their seventh studio album Villains was released in 2017.
