Six Organs of Admittance
For Octavio Paz

A much needed re-pressing of one of the high points of the early Six Organs Of Admittance catalogue. For Octavio Paz was originally unleashed in limited numbers on Time Lag but has been long out of print. The record perfectly showcases the extraordinary fingerpicking style of Ben Chasny using an assortment of stringed instruments including a side long solo piece to end the record which drew comparisons with the likes of Robbie Basho. Remixed and remastered for this edition.

Six Organs of Admittance
Burning The Threshold

The inside of Ben Chasney’s head must be like a forest. His music sounds like a brave guitar player treading through a maze of brown branches and red leaves, never breaking his pace. The result is, invariably, an album full of hypnotizing songs, and Six Organs of Admittance’ latest is no exception. Burning the Threshold features guest musicians on vocals, drums and keys, but the sound is unmistakable: uncompromising, almost tribal, acoustic music.

Six Organs Of Admittance & William Tyler
Parallelogram A La Carte

This is a re-press of the initially limited Three Lobed Parallelogram series in which they paired two musicians together and watched the sparks fly. This one is where guitar pickers Six Organs of Admittance and William Tyler shared some quality studio time. Three unique tracks lavishly presented.

Six Organs of Admittance
Hexadic II

Ben Chasny continues to draw on his self-devised quasi-mystic system of charts and cards to produce Hexadic II, a totally different Six Organs Of Admittance album to Hexadic. These pieces focus on acoustic instruments, exploring space and sound in inscrutable ways. Released as a vinyl LP or as a cassette, on Drag City.

Six Organs of Admittance
Hexadic

Some scuzzed out mutations from Six Organs of Admittance. Hexadic is the new full length from the man that is Ben Chasny. Apparently, he's pioneered some new fangled compositional devices for this one, cause he had to write something heavier than Nick Clegg's woebegone conscience. Chocka with super fuzzed out guitars, warped vocal wailings and the low ended doom that only the bass and drums can supply. Out on vinyl LP and CD from Drag City.

Six Organs of Admittance
Dust & Chimes

Dust & Chimes by Six Organs of Admittance was originally released in 1998. Ben Chasny’s intricate and gloomy-yet-gorgeous guitar playing was reminiscent of John Fahey and Robbie Basho long before people wanted to dig their old records up. There are also touches of Donovan and Marc Bolan’s early folkie Tyrannosaurus Rex days Chasny has a dauntless imagination and with Dust & Chimes made a record that is best described in oxymorons: solemn elation, dazzling gloominess, for example.
