Siouxsie and The Banshees
A Kiss In The Dreamhouse

The Siouxsie and the Banshees re-issue festival continues with this, their fifth album. Originally released in 1982 it saw the band take on a more varied sound with the use of recorders, tubular bells and loops. It didn't really boast any hits but is well regarded as one of their most psychedelic offerings particularly closing track Slowdive which of course must have influenced a certain shoegaze band.

Siouxsie and The Banshees
Juju

This is possibly Siouxie and the Banshees high water mark. This 1981 album featured the unique, distinctive guitar of John McGeoch which gave the Banshees an unconventional innovative sound. The album features the dashing single 'Spellbound' and has been cited as one of the most influential British albums.

Siouxsie and The Banshees
The Scream

The Scream was the debut album by Siouxsie and the Banshees. It's slower than punk textures and rhythms could be said to be the birth point of post- punk and their sound can be heard in innumerable bands that followed such as Joy Division and the Cure. Contains a preposterous version of Lennon and McCartney's 'Helter Skelter' amongst other classics but their hits would come later.

Siouxsie and The Banshees
The Rapture

The Rapture was the 11th and final studio album from Siouxsie and the Banshees and was part produced by John Cale. The album continued the band's legacy of producing innovative and fresh work at a time when many of their contemporaries had either split up or were treading water. Though not sporting any notable singles the record continued the Banshees obsession with the darker side of pop with disquieting lyrics to match.

Tinderbox

Remastered and cut at half speed, this is a re-issue of Siouxie and the Banshees seventh album. The record contained the singles 'Candyman' and 'Cities In Dust' and further exemplified the band's knack for propulsive, atmospheric music led by Siouxie's distinctive vocal yelps which gave them international success.

Through The Looking Glass

After seven studio albums it was time for Siouxie and the Banshees covers LP. The band showed great taste by covering the likes of Sparks, Kraftwerk, Iggy Pop and Roxy Music. Pretty much all the artists people still bang on about now.  They'd already proved with their 'famous' cover of the Beatles 'Dear Prudence' that they could interpret other peoples work to chart success and here was a full album of unique reworks. Now re-issued and remastered and cut at half speed.

Join Hands

'Join Hands' was the second Siouxie and the Banshees album and found them still in a very bleak place with songs based around the First World War. It also features the band's harrowing version of the Lords Prayer. The hits started on the subsequent 'Kaleidoscope' but this one shows the band at their most darkly brutal.

Siouxsie and The Banshees
Superstition

This is Siouxsie and the Banshees 10th album and was originally released in 1991. It was produced by Stephen Hague (New Order/Pet Shop Boys) which meant it had his usual array electronic textures and drum programs.  Though this didn't enamour the album to some fans it was still critically respected for it's tender and emotional songs.

Peepshow

Here's where Siouxsie and the Banshees proved that they were more than just goth rock gloomsters. Lead single 'Peek-a-Boo' was an innovative slice of future pop laden with samples and electronic effects. The album contained further hits in 'The Killing Jar' and 'The Last Beat of My Heart' and showcased a vibrant and unpredictable album.

The Scream (Picture Disc)

Initially released in 1978, The Scream is the debut offering of post-punk outfit Siouxsie and The Banshees. The 10-track offering represents what was one of the more audacious and experimental waves in alt-rock history, which both smashed rules and peaked at number 12 in the charts. Features hit single 'Metal Postcard (Mittageisen)'

Hyaena

An interesting anomaly in the Banshees large and sprawling back catalogue. The departed John McGeogh was replaced by none other than Sir Robert Smith of the Cure. Unsurprisingly perhaps it was the Banshees mine a dark underbelly miles away from the pop that was in the charts at the time. No hits but it forced Smith out of his stupour to go on and write some of the Cure's best and brightest songs once he'd escaped.

Kaleidoscope

Ah this is the classic one isn't it? The first with ‘Budgie’ on drums and  John McGeoch on guitar who would both play a part in transforming the Banshees sound. It contains two of their excellent breakthrough hits Happy House and Christine and is a more rounded and vibrant Banshees sound than ever. Now re-issued cut from the original tapes.
