Silicon Scally
Cobalt Blue

Silicon Scally is back on Central Processing Unit (DMX Krew, Cygnus) with another set of electro niceness. Cobalt Blue contains four robust club tracks from the one born Carl Finlow. Entries like ‘Protocol 2’ and Cobalt Blue’s title piece chirrup away in that manner that makes you think of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. ‘Asynchronous’ is a little tougher, its blurting bass drum reminiscent of Special Request.

Projections

Do the people at Sheffield Central Processing Unit ever sleep? The label with arguably the most relentless work-rate in the clubsphere drop yet another EP of good-time throwbacks, in this case from the stable of Carl Finlow’s Silicon Scally alias. Finlow’s decades of experience - he released his first record in 1993 - means that he’s able to craft electro jams of remarkable richness and density. ‘Thermal Image’ and the title track are particularly textured tracks, while ‘Rift’ is characterised by huge bass hits.

Live @ Scand

The latest release from Carl Finlow’s Silicon Scally project shows off the producer’s live chops. Recorded at the back-end of 2017 in one of London’s Scand parties, the eight electro jams of Live @ Scand would be impressively detailed even if you didn’t know that they were being created in real time. Plenty of chunky 303 goodness for acid heads to sink their teeth into here.
