808 State
Gorgeous

In 1980s Manchester one of the most terrifying things to do (and there were a lot of terrifying things to do in 1980s Manchester) would be to go into Eastern Bloc records and ask for... I dunno the latest dance pop smash by Paul Hardcastle. Behind the counter was Martin Price who would later go on to form 808 State. As you can imagine he had exquisite taste which lent itself to the techno and house explorations he would go on to produce. Gorgeous was their fourth album and features a Joy Division sample, a UB40 rework and the vocals of Liverpool gob Ian McCulloch.

808 State
Don Solaris

The band once monikered Bob State by someone at Top of the Pops are  - despite that  - electronic music legends. Son Solaris was their 1996 era opus which brought a more rocky influence into their works but is still deep and immersive and full of contrasting moods. It features vocal contributions from Louise Rhodes of Lamb and James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers. The sleeve was designed by television motor mouth Paul Morley.

808 State
Transmission Suite

Once hilariously misnamed Bob State by someone at Top of the Pops, Manchester's legendary electronic pioneers 808 State return with their first album since 2002. They recorded this at the old Granada studios in their home town so expect some of that rain-lashed industrial heritage to have rubbed off on their atmospheric Detroit influenced techno. A welcome return.

Think back to 1991, when 808 State were at the peak of their techno powers. You had a great time losing your mind and body to these original bangers didn’t you? Now you can jog your memory again with their third album ex:el (featuring guest appearances from Bernard Sumner and Bjork!), reissued here on yellow vinyl with 4 bonus tracks. Limited to 750 copies worldwide.

808 State
808:90 (Expanded)

Think back to 1989 and the heyday of house and techno raves. You had a great time losing your mind and body to 808 State didn’t you? Now you can jog your memory again with this reissue of the electronic explorer’s second album, 808:90, presented in expanded form with 8 bonus tracks. Double LP set pressed on 180g vinyl!

808 State
In Yer Face (Bicep Remixes)

Bicep continue their taking on of classic tunes with two remixes of 808 State’s 1991 hit tune In Yer Face (it actually got to #9 in the charts, how things change). Giving us two wildly different interpretations of the track you get a big pad sound deep house track and a spaced out acid dub, both sticking true to the original.

808 State
Pacific

Ah this is their really good song isn't it? A hit in 1989. Lovely plaintive tune that will bring back memories and here is collated with three remixes. It's on blue and black vinyl and I don't think there's any particular reason why it has been re-issued. it's just a good tune and it's Record Store Day. So there.
