Sandro Perri
Soft Landing

Sandro Perri albums are like London buses - you wait ages for one, then two come along next to each other. We waited seven long years for last year’s In Another Life, and barely 12 months later, Soft Landing has arrived. Opening with the gargantuan 16-minute ‘Time (You Got Me)’, it sees Perri explore the guitar, his primary instrument, in greater detail than usual.

Sandro Perri
In Another Life

Sandro Perri's newest record sees the avant-folk musician bringing in new aesthetics previously explored in his electronic project Off World. Utilising gorgeous guitar meanderings alongside creaking, squelching, zapping synths, he offers a twenty-plus minute track made with the aim of sounding "infinite". Verse after verse after verse, it sounds newly pretty; the second side of the record sees Perri improvise lyrics over a serene musical ballad in "Everybody's Paris", which is then reinterpreted by Destroyer's Dan Bejar and the Deadly Snakes' André Ethier. A fascinating u-turn.

Off World
2

Off World got off to a flying start last year with I, a record released as part of a trilogy of electronic works on Constellation echoing back to their Musique Fragile Series. Featuring avant-folk artist Sandro Perri, the group's record offered beguiling instrumental twists that sounded like vintage coming back to life; the roster appears to have changed here, Perri joined by the likes of labelmate Eric Chenaux as well as Matthew Cooper, Susumu Mukai and others.

Off World
1

Jazz folk song-warper Sandro Perri is no stranger to thee Constellation record releasing orchestra, though with new band Off World he takes a different tack. On 1 this fledgling band of musicians contribute to the label's triple-bill of instrumental Autumn releases, using a mix of electronics and acoustics to create short-form tracks that feel alien and mountainous, establishing patterns and them examining them on an insect level.
