Ryan Adams
Big Colors

Songwriting ace Dave 'Ryan' Adams is back with an album centred around his love for Manchester. Although it's impressive to hear of an American who has heard of a UK city that isn't London, it's a shame that we have to continually peddle the myth that it invented music singlehandedly. Here he is joined by several stars some of whom seem to have done a two for one deal and also appeared on the Jenny Lewis album while they are at it.

Ryan Adams
Prisoner

It seems a long long way from Whiskeytown now but David Ryan Adams is still at it veering somewhere between alt country troubadour and balls out rocker. This album follows his ill-advised attempt at covering Taylor Swift's '1989' and showcases a prolific period of writing. Indeed 'Do You Still Love Me?' is brash stadium rock worthy of his near namesake Bryan.

Ryan Adams
1989

Ryan Adams has covered Taylor Swift’s album, 1989 in full. Yes - you heard me right. Ryan Adams made some wonderful, soulful alt. country with his band Whiskeytown and as a solo artist. This is seems to be a bit of an odd one though - can he turn the music of a country pop princess into alt. country gold? Probably.
