Robbie Basho
Visions of the Country

In 1978 Robbie Basho released the legendary Visions of the Country. Coming relatively late in a career which saw him, alongside John Fahey, develop the 'American Primitive' guitar tradition, Visions of the Country is a remarkable album filled with spirit, emotion, and ruggedness. The guitar playing is raw and intense, and his singing is just breathtaking. A marvel.

Robbie Basho
Land of Our Fathers (Rarities 1967-1983)

A collection of rare and unreleased material spanning 16 years from 1967 to 1983 by reclusive American guitar figure, Robbie Basho. Just like the music he’s made in that time, it varies in sound quality, with many tracks having to be expertly remastered, but the seven tracks here speak to a remarkable musical soul.

Robbie Basho
Live in Forli, Italy 1982

It’s taken a few decades for the late Robbie Basho to start developing a deserved reputation. This 1982 recording captures an intimate Italian show full of stunning playing amid some awkward multilingual patter, and a soaring devotional vocal on the closing California Raga. A fine setting of music that is essential in every sense, enough to cut through the cynicism of his Takoma label boss John Fahey, and bear a major posthumous influence on the likes of Jack Rose and Jim O’Rourke.

Robbie Basho
Art Of The Acoustic Steel String Guitar 6 & 12

Robbie Basho's finger-picking innovations are made explicit on 'Art of the Acoustic Steel String Guitar 6 & 12', a collection of instrumentals and proper songs he put together back in 1979 to put steel string guitars back on the map in America. Through simple vocal work and gorgeous, often almost improvised guitar work, Basho crafted a work of incredible force and serendipitous depth. It's now available on vinyl.

Robbie Basho
Venus In Cancer

Venus In Cancer was the sixth album by American acoustic guitarist, Robbie Basho. It was originally released in 1969 on the Blue Thumb label. Often mentioned in the the same breaths as fellow virtuoso players John Fahey and Leo Kottke,  Basho threw a whole load of eastern influences into his music which set him apart. His influence can be seen in the work of acts such as Six Organs Of Admittance, James Blackshaw and Jack Rose, to name but a few. Reissue LP on Traffic Entertainment.
