Cabaret Voltaire
Shadow Of Fear

'Shadow of Fear' is the first album by Cabaret Voltaire since 1994’s 'The Conversation' - that’s a whopping 26 years ago. Sheffield’s pioneering industrial electronic band are now the sole enterprise of Richard H. Kirk with Stephen Mallinder having left after their last album. The record is unmistakably Cabaret Voltaire with its mix of house, dub, techno and German electronic music of the 1970s weaving through the grooves.

Sandoz
s/t

Richard H. Kirk is most famous for being a member of Sheffield industrialists Cabaret Voltaire. He also struck out on his own in 1992 under the name Sandoz, a name taken from the lab that developed LSD in the ‘30s. He has released 12 albums under that name to date. Second Circle have been sifting through his archive and found four tracks that were originally released in the early days of his solo career and made one stunner of an EP.

Cabaret Voltaire
Chance Versus Causality

Chance Versus Causality is perhaps the most intriguing of all of Cabaret Voltaire’s records. After a gig in Brussels in 1979 the band were approached by Babette Mondini and asked if they would score a film she was working on at the time. Cabaret Voltaire made the soundtrack without ever watching the footage, sent off the tapes to Holland, and then … nothing. The trio never saw the film and, after a limited release, it basically disappeared from the record. Now the Chance Versus Causality OST has been resurrected by Mute for its first proper release.

Cabaret Voltaire
1974 - 76

Cabaret Voltaire dropped their debut LP in 1979, but they were going for a full six-years prior to the release of Mix-Up. The 1974-76 compilation collects some of the group’s home demos from their formative years. Rough around the edges, but you can hear Richard H Kirk, Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson honing their pioneering sound in real-time here.
