Punk rockers of the halcyon days -- named after a song by the Stooges that they misheard the lyrics to -- Radio Birdman remain overlooked among the rawest outfits of their era. 'Live at Paddington Town Hall' collects together nineteen songs from a 1977 show at the eponymous venue, recorded around the same time they released 'Radios Appear'. Radio Birdman made true on their unhinged intentions best when they were playing live, and Citadel Records finally offers up the evidence.
'Radios Appear' was the first sighting of Radio Birdman, a punk band who formed over mishearing a Stooges lyric. These Sydney louts were DIY to the core, in both making and passing on their music, and they're now being celebrated with this reissue on Citadel Records, with the hope their raw energy might rub off on a new generation of punks.
