Richard Barbieri
Variants.5

Richard Barbieri releases the fifth and final instalment of the Variants series he’s been plugging away at these past couple of years. Variants.5 is another set of painterly electronics from the Japan/Porcupine Tree fellow. A lot of the stuff here is quite like Boards Of Canada or Amon Tobin, but sometimes Barbieri shifts gear and moves Variants.5 into a sort of !K7/Innervisions techno zone.

Richard Barbieri
Stranger Inside

Richard Barbieri was of course the keyboard player in Japan.. Since then he's had a decent enough career on his own with plenty of solo work and playing keyboards for Porcupine Tree. This is his 2008 solo album on vinyl for the first time which features guest spots from an array of characters including Steve Jansen (Japan) and Danny Thompson (Pentangle etc)

Porcupine Tree
Signify

First released in 1996, Signify is the fifteen-track record from long running prog/psych outfit Porcupine Tree. A genuinely mesmerising affair, the record gives everything an indie-rock album should give- a classic blend of solid guitar riffs and deep, well thought-out drum patterns that align with the records’ time-period.
