Paul Haig Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
Former Josef K frontman Paul Haig returns with his 4th solo album, The Wood. It is a culmination of three years work which sees him exploring similar territory to that of Four Tet, Floating Points and Love Over Entropy. He sees the wood as a place where things are hidden and secrets are kept, and draws parallels between this and the human soul. LP and CD on Les Disques Du Crépuscule.

Paul Haig was of course a member of that sharp-edged indie band Josef K; later on he became a proper pop star. This compilation, aptly titled Metamorphosis, documents the period of change, with singles, EPs, 12”s and live material, as well as collaborative music made under the Rhythm of Life name. Some embryonic pop as well as some odder experiments. Double disc release on Les Disques du Crepuscule.
The former Josef K frontman’s solo debut gets an expanded remaster here. Rhythm Of Life saw the Scotsman building on the funk pulse that coursed through his old band’s work and making a dash for the dancefloor - egged on by producer Alex Sadkin (Bob Marley, Grace Jones). The album may not have set the world alight at the time, but it stands as a compelling document of ambitious 80s pop comparable to the contemporaneous work of The Associates. Guest contributors include The Golden Palominos' Anton Fier and legendary Parliament-Funkadelic keyboard wizard Bernie Worrell. Added to this edition are five bonus items from the 1984 EP New York Remix.
