Nirvana
Bleach: Deluxe Edition

Nirvana going round for the first time. 'Bleach' was the beginning of the famed grungers infinite ascendency, and it's now reissued as a lovely deluxe edition with more anthemic dejection than you could ever wish for: a live recording of their Portland show in 1990 (with a few surprises and covers), plus an obscenely long booklet of once-private photos. In summary: Nirvana, Bleach, deluxe.

Nirvana
From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah

From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah is the lesser-known Nirvana album: rather than the stripped-back acoustics of MTV Unplugged, it features full-bore amplified rock action. With material representing 1989 through to 1994, it makes for a potent intro into Kurt and co’s powers as a loud live band. Double LP reissue.

Nirvana
In Utero

Nirvana’s In Utero, the album that famously followed Nevermind with a more caustic, cutting sound. Pretty emotionally and sonically heavy, particularly for a record that reached number one in the US. Includes "Heart-Shaped Box", "Rape Me", and the title track, which is essentially designed to be poppy enough to entice listeners into the abrasive depths of the record. Reissued on vinyl by Back To Black.

Nirvana
MTV Unplugged In New York

It was quite the moment when the hitherto loud and raucous Nirvana calmed down enough to perform an acoustic set for MTVs Unplugged series. The performance was a revelation, taking in highlights from their back catalogue plus covers of David Bowie and Meat Puppets. It was a crying shame that we never got to see how the band would progress but at least we were left with this superb document.

Nirvana
Nevermind

Of Nirvana’s three studio albums, the middle one, Nevermind, is probably the most well known, but it is after all, the one that got them noticed. It kicked down the doors and allowed everybody through. Their mix of classic rock and punk was sprinkled with magic dust by the then unknown producer Butch Vig. It was also the first album to feature the now Foo Fighter, Dave Grohl on drums. It is great.

Nirvana
MTV Unplugged In New York (25th Anniversary Edition)

Regularly heralded as one of the finest live albums of all time, Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged In New York is being re-issued in expanded form to mark the 25th anniversary of its release. Kurt Cobain’s songwriting was revealed to be just as emotionally hefty, even without the dynamism of Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl’s normal volume - indeed, the thought of Grohl drumming with brushes is a strange one even now. The double-vinyl package features the original tracklisting, in addition to five bonus rehearsal performances that were previously only available on the DVD edition.

Nirvana
Live and Loud

Shot at their homecoming show in Seattle on December 13th 1993, Live And Loud was aired on MTV but has never been available as a stand-alone audio release. Originally included as part of the In Utero super deluxe re-issue in 2013, it’s now available by itself, on double vinyl with a ‘replica backstage pass’ download card.

Nirvana
Nirvana

‘Nirvana’ was released following the settlement of a long standing legal dispute between Courtney Love and remaining Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, centered around the release format of the song ‘You Know You’re Right’ which was recorded at the band's last session in 1994. This is Nirvana’s first release since the death of Kurt Cobain to feature studio material.

Nirvana
Incesticide

Universal are doing a sterling job keeping Nirvana’s back catalogue pressed up and available on vinyl. Here we have a reissue of 1992’s collection of rarities, Incesticide, which contains a load of tracks that never appeared on a ‘proper’ Nirvana album, including the ever-winning single ‘Silver’. Double LP reissue on 180g vinyl.

Nirvana
Live On KAOS-FM, Seattle - 1987

Here is a slab of rock history. The first ever recording session of Nirvana (then known as the marginally less appealing Skid Row). This was a live session for the KAOS FM radio station and was the first time the band had ever been recorded. Hear the lads trying stuff out that would lead to them being rather popular indeed.

Kurt Cobain
Montage Of Heck: The Home Recordings

Montage of Heck - The Home Recordings is the long awaited soundtrack to the only fully authorised documentary about grunge legend Kurt Cobain. This album contains early home recordings, including snippets of what would become full Nirvana songs, made by Cobain giving an intimate view of his creative process. Available on 31 track vinyl LP and CD.

Nirvana
Live At The Paramount

Apparently Nirvana were only ever properly recorded to film on one occasion, and guess what? This is the DVD of that occasion! In 1991, the year of Nevermind, the band were on their way up, up, up, and Live At The Paramount captures them on electric form. HD footage transferred from 16mm film and with a 5.1 surround sound soundtrack to boot. Also, the recording is being made available on vinyl for the first time.

Nirvana
Live in Buenos Aires 1992

It's a live album. By Nirvana. Recorded in Buenos Aires. Somewhere between 1991's Bleach and 1993's In Utero, this 1992 concert captured the Superband that was Nirvana in their heyday. Featuring all the greats from their first two albums, including Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium and About a Girl. But played live (in Buenos Aires).

Nirvana
Bleach

Bleach was the 1989 album where it all began for Nirvana. The group, later to become world-slaying, are on especially negative, raw and grungey form here. Bleach has been remastered, and is reissued to vinyl and also to cassette tape: probably an ideal format if you want to simulate the original experience.
