Nico Muhly Vinyl, CD & tapes by Nico Muhly at Norman Records
Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, James McAlister
This is a potentially fascinating collaboration between these four lauded composers based around the ideas of space...not just outer space but your own inner space. A song suite that explores the planets and our solar system taking in piano ballads, proggy crescendos and everything in between. Oh and in case you are wondering Sufjan does sing.

Modern classical wunderkind Nico Muhly has written a full-blown viola concerto, recorded here by violist Nadia Sirota with the backing of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Apparently Keep In Touch was designed to challenge the performer into engaging with their weaknesses (mean Mr Muhly), but Sirota’s performance of the piece sounds perfect to these ears. On Bedroom Community.
Nico Muhly is a busy young modern-classical composer and performer isn’t he? Here he is now, rocking up on Nonesuch in a new collaboration with songwriter Teitur. With song lyrics derived from obscure youtube videos and the music scored for a baroque ensemble, Confessions probably qualifies as a unique record I should think?
Neo-classical artist Nico Muhly has collaborated with artists such as Sufjan Stevens and Bryce Dessner on works that crossover from traditional composition to indie rock -- he's also an artist in his own right, composing music for a variety of orchestras. 'Two Boys' is his own two-part contemporary opera, and was commissioned by the Met (making him their youngest ever composer).
