Astrid
A Porthole (I)

The first installment of a double album release scheduled for 2019, Astrid’s newest effort A Porthole (I) is conceptually built around the idea of a cabin on a sea voyage. Each of the four tracks is named after a different kind of seaweed, and the French modern-classical quartet drive each musical exploration with typical virtuoso showmanship.

Astrid & Rachel Grimes
Through The Sparkle

Here is an interesting sounding collaboration between French ensemble Astrid and Rachel's founder and pianist Rachel Grimes. Following years of email correspondence the two hooked up in France to collaborate and the result is this an album of miniature symphonies, gentle and cinematic sounds and haunting neo-classical.

Cyril Secq / Orla Wren
Branches

A blend of acoustic guitar, nature-inspired soundscapes, and minimal electronic production can be found on this ambient/experimental collaborative project by Cyril Secq and Orla Wren. The minimalistic and organic nature of the record makes it a peaceful and intriguing piece of sonic art. Released as CD on the Dronarivm label.

Astrid
The West Lighthouse Is Not So Far

Astrid make music that is primarily ambient, although the occasional appearances of noise guitar squalls and rhythmic bursts give an anticipatory tang to the proceedings. The West Lighthouse Is Not So Far, the group’s fourth album, takes all its titles from lighthouses, and is released on MonotypeRec.
