Motorpsycho Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
The second part of Motorpsycho’s live compilation series, Roadwork Vol. 2, captures the band live at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 1995. An odd place for them to play, perhaps. However, they accepted the invitation of fellow Norwegians, The Source, a free Jazz combo who clearly felt that Motorpsycho’s psych/prog explorations would suit some far out augmentation. 180g blue coloured vinyl LP or CD on Rune Gramafon. Limited to 500 copies.

Roadwork Vol.3 by Norwegian psychedelic prog rockers, Motorpsycho captures the band stretching themselves to magnificent lengths, adding improvisation to create fantastic versions of classics such as Hogwash and STG. The material was recorded at Amsterdam’s Paradiso Club in 2002 and was previously only available as part of the Haircuts DVD. This has been remastered for vinyl by Helge Sten. LP and CD on Rune Grammafon.
- Vinyl Double LP (RALP320)
Roadwork Vol.5 by Motorpsycho was recorded on the road in 2017 and features new drummer Tomas Järmyr and multi-instrumentalist Kristoffer Lo. Like previous volumes in the Roadwork series, Vol.5 showcases the band’s experimental and improvisational side. Lo’s addition to the line-up meant the Norwegian psych-prog band could explore this further and more thoroughly than before. 180 gm 3LP and 2CD on Rune Grammafon.
- Vinyl Triple LP (MPLP302)
This is the first Motorpsycho album since the departure of drummer Kenneth Kapstad but as usual the long running group have used this departure to their advantage and here explore further new areas ranging from brutal stoner rock to shorter and more reflective material. Once again Motorpsycho survive a line up change to produce fresh and challenging material.
- Vinyl Double LP (MPLP301)
Motorpsycho composed this music for use in a play: imagine going to the theatre and seeing Motorpsycho play alongside the drama! Lovely. However, this audio release of Begynnelser has been designed specifically for listening, meaning that it contains material and sequencing different to the actual performed play. Begynnelser is presented as a double 10” and CD, plus a DVD with a full filmed performance of the play! On Rune Grammofon.

Motorpsycho have been plying their trade in progressive, psychedelic heavy rock for the past 25 years, give or take. Over that time they have gathered a tribe of loyal fans and had the odd line-up change. Founding members Magnus ‘Snah’ Ryan and Bent Saether have remained at the core of everything they do. Their new album Here Be Monsters was originally commissioned for the 100 year anniversary of the Norwegian Technical Museum in 2014. The band realised they could take their original one-off performance further and went into the studio at the start of 2015. Lyrically, the original version studied time and history, for the recorded version, the themes have been expanded to explore the human condition.
A special release of Norwegian proggers Motorpsycho and Ståle together with Kammerkoret Aurum and Sheriffs Of Nothingness performing the commissioned work En Konsert For Folk Flest in the Nidarosdomen cathedral of Trondheim. Featuring a 24-piece choir this is a mighty piece captured and released here in this deluxe set. Out on Deluxe gatefold 180g vinyl 2LP + DVD + CD on Rune Grammofon.
- Vinyl Double LP (RLP2170)
Norwegian prog-psych rock band Motorpsycho add their own menacing twist to Spin, Spin, Spin - a song originally by Terry Callier. Motorpsycho’s version, however, takes it’s cues from the version by 60’s psych-rockers HP Lovecraft. The B-Side features Go Around Once which was penned by bassist and vocalist Bent Saether and is exclusive to this 7”.
Supersonic Scientists / A Young Person’s Guide To Motorpsycho is, as the second half of that title suggests, a compilation of essential works by the band. Over the years they have worked their way into a precisely balanced groove of psychedelic rock that is only sometimes as heavy as the name Motorpsycho might suggest. 2LP or 2CD on Rune Grammofon.

The Legendary Demon Box by Motorpsycho gets a lavish reissue for its 21st birthday. The Norwegian rockers’ 3rd album is 1st in the minds of many fans. Demon Box is available as a 4CD+DVD box set containing the original album, 2 EPs, live recordings, rarities and a film of a concert recorded in Groningen, Netherlands or 2LP vinyl of the original album.
Perhaps the band's defining statement, Trust Us marks the end of their sequence of deep, dark psychedelic rock albums in the late 1990s before their trilogy of slick arranged pop albums in the early '90s. This mammoth double album boasts the epic and emotional 'Vortex Surfer' as well as other 'psycho classics like '577', 'Ozone' and 'Hey Jane', mixing tightly formulated songwriting and epic psych-riffing improvisation.
A massive stack of Motorpsycho for you to dig into! Angels and Daemons at Play has been released as a double LP and a series of three EPs, but this reissue of the late 90’s project includes all the original material, plus three discs of rarities, B-sides and live recordings. Christ, that’s six CD’s-worth of wild Norwegianness! Box-set by Rune Grammofon.
