Mick Harvey
Waves of Anzac / The Journey

Bad Seed Mick Harvey is no stranger to film soundtracks. Admittedly, it’s been the best part of 15 years since he scored a film, but with 10 under his belt, returning to the format shouldn’t be a problem. This latest release contains two parts. The first is a piano-led score for Waves of Anzac, a film by Sam Neill about his family’s connection to the First World War. The second, The Journey, was recorded with The Letter String Quartet, is for people who have come to Australia seeking asylum and found themselves detained offshore. Two powerful pieces, made with a lot of heart.

The Fall and Rise of Edgar Bourchier and the Horrors of War

Guitarist and long time Bad Seed (of Nick Cave-related renown) Mick Harvey teams up with lyricist Christopher Richard Barker to create The Fall and Rise of Edgar Bourchier and the Horrors of War. First single sounds like a fuzzy, distorted and almost punky affair with cheery vocals chanting sinister lyrics. And why not?

Mick Harvey
Intoxicated Women

Mick Harvey has had an up-close-and-personal view of some of the last few decades’ finest songwriters, as veteran sideman to PJ Harvey and Nick Cave. For Intoxicated Women, he takes on the oeuvre of another legend of song: Serge Gainsbourg. Several guest vocalists help him out, such as Andrea Schroeder on the notable German cover of ‘Je T’aime’. On Mute.

Delirium Tremens

After Intoxicated Man(1995) and Pink Elephants(1997), Delerium Tremens is the third installment of Mick Harvey translating Serge Gainsbourg songs into english. It has been a slow process for Harvey as much of his time is taken up with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, as well as collaborating with PJ Harvey.

Mick Harvey
Intoxicated Man / Pink Elephants

This release is a double collection of Mick Harvey’s two interpretive works of the musical compositions and performances of legendary singer songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. These recordings originally released in 1995/1997 are the first major translations of Gainsbourg’s work from French to English and the release includes two previously unreleased tracks ‘Dr Jekyll’ and ‘Run From Happiness’.

FOUR (Acts of Love)

FOUR (Acts Of Love)! All FOUR of them! Back in 2009 Mick Harvey parted ways with Nick Cave after an association that spanned a quarter-century and more than a few classic LPs. His solo career seems to be going well enough though. Four (Acts Of Love) is the second album that Harvey has released in the four years since leaving The Bad Seeds. There are plenty of similarities with his old band here - unsurprising given how much creative energy Harvey put into Cave’s work down the years - but there’s also a tender torch-song feel that recalls Richard Hawley.
