Mazzy Star

The first new music in four years from David Roback and Hope Sandoval AKA Mazzy Star comes in the form of a 4-track 12” EP. Still features three brand new songs along with a new version of the title track from their 1993 masterpiece, So Tonight That I Might See. 12” EP on Rhymes of an Hour....view item »

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions
Son Of A Lady

None-more-sultry chanteuse Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star) follows up her at times rather excellent 'Until the Hunter' album with a 10" EP that not only includes an acoustic version of the mess she made with Kurt Vile but includes three brand new tracks not on the album.  Very limited ...view item »

Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions
Let Me Get There

Hope Sandoval is of course the sultry lady who makes up one half of Mazzy Star but she has a parallel career with her Warm Inventions who include one Colm O Ciosoig better known as the drummer in My Bloody Valentine. This is a two track taster for their upcoming album 'Until the Hunter' and...view item »

Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions
Until The Hunter

The Warm Inventions’ first album in 7 years with Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star, and who recently surfaced on the Massive Attack’s new single The Spoils. Bluesy and warm groove in a smokey lounge bar setting, jazzy twinkling keys, whammy barred guitar slides....view item »

Mazzy Star
Ghost Highway

Ghost Highway serves up two 1994 portions of Mazzy Star recorded in the moment, one from a live show and one from a radio session. We get a nice mixture of favourites from 1993’s So Tonight That I Might See and early versions of tracks that would later surface on other albums. CD released by FM In Concert...view item »

Mazzy Star
Seasons of Your Day

Flicking to the reviews pages of The Guardian this morning, I was curious to see what their take was of Mazzy Star’s long awaited return. Instead their feature album is by Jessie J. What hope is there? Anyway the fact they gave the awful new MGMT record a good write-up shows that ...view item »

Mazzy Star
So Tonight That I Might See

This is a much needed re-issue of the second album from David Roback and Hope Sandoval's dream pop/slowcore band. Originally released in 1993 this contained their superhit 'Fade Into You' which peaked at no 44 in the hot 100. One of those albums that gained momentum this is a fine addition to their small but perfectly formed set of records, &nbs...view item »

Mazzy Star
She Hangs Brightly

I love the mix of The Byrds and The Velvet Underground that Mazzy Star create on their debut album "She Hangs Brightly". There are also more obvious folk and blues influences which seem to be missing from later albums. The Songs are more definitively melodic than the later work. "Halah" and "Ride It On" are two that stand out. Hope Sandoval's co...view item »

Mazzy Star
Among My Swan

I think Mazzy Star's best two albums are behind them. Their debut "She Hangs Brightly" and their masterpiece "So Tonight That I Might see". Their third album, "Among My Swan" kind of occupies a place just below those in quality, however it's still a good album and their sound has become more accomplished. "Flowers In December" was the single tha...view item »
