The Let's Wrestles return this week with a new album on FortunaPOP!. They seem to have matured from their obnoxious early shamblepop into a more polished kind of indie-pop, tightly delivered and full of falsetto vocal harmonies. I'm eating tacos with my housemate and he just said it sounds like the Kaiser Chiefs...view item
I struggled with the new Lets Wrestle album when it came around on my review pile last time round. There's no denying that they've sharpened up their chops but their bouncy London indie-psych-pop did start to jar over the course of the album.
Weirdly, though, in this smaller dose I'm actually enjoying them very much. 'Rain Ruins Revoluti...view item
After a fairly brilliant debut album, you might expect Let’s Wrestle to struggle a little bit on the follow-up, Nursing Home. Maybe the jokes wouldn’t be as oddball and funny, maybe the songs would be a little dull or rote, maybe the sound would be slicked-up and tired. Maybe it would sound like a less-interesting ca...view item
Ooh, how boisterous! 'Let's Wrestle' by Let's Wrestle by Let's Wrestle by 'Let's Wrestle' is probably more Doink the Clown than Bret 'The Hitman' Hart but then even Doink had his admirers, it was funny when he used to squirt water out of his little plastic flower into babies' faces and stuff. This tune starts of all Jerry Lee Lewis piano then clatt...view item
The Who were back stage at Woodstock. They were lounging about on couches and having a little drink. Pete Townshend said "Awright Micheal! No I ant seen Jim for ...view item

Let's wrestle, let's let's wrestle etc. etc. Every time I read their bastard name that song goes through my stupid brain. Hey, that's about on par with one of their rhymes. The singer sings them while the drummer drums and the guitar strums and the bass player dum-de-dum-dum-dums. The last part's probably the best aspect of the thing, being plea...view item

Let's Wrestle are a great proposition. Old skool indie shades abound on this fine 6 track EP 'In Loving Memory of....' that really impress. The 2nd track comes across like a maudilin Pete Shelley intoning over an abrasive Strokes like backing. A load of Good Shoes 'brogue' in there too without doubt. Just shambling sandpaper fuzz guitars, snaky jau...view item
Now on Marquis Cha Cha with Let's Wrestle with Song for Abba Tribute Record. Sounding like Jeffrey Lewis with a similar grasp of witty lyrics, his comic book reference and dead pan vocal tuning. Musically its simple lo-fi with lots of and guitar bass and drums but its got some chord changes that surprise and entertain. It's got that Pavement lazy ...view item
